Waverley

Mary was a very lovely host - she even left us some yummy cupcakes in the kitchen! The house has character and is in a super location, 5 mins walk to the city wall and 10 mins to the Minster/city centre. 3 double bed rooms was perfect for us.

Parking - but I hasten to add that Mary gave us one parking permit, its the size of the road that didn't work for our car. we also came with two cars, but there is a public pay-to-park area very close by. The main bathroom was downstairs, but that's to be expected in houses of that age.

The house was really home from home it was so lovely a comfortable. I work away a lot for work and some places just feel clinical, not this lovely little house I found I could instantly relax. It had everything we needed for our stay. It is in walking distance to the city so lovely to explore after work. Just be mindful though the stairs are very steep especially if you are sleeping in the loft space didn’t bother me as it saved me going to the gym for a few days 😊😊

Amazing location and brownies on arrival was a lovely touch

It is an old house and stairs are extremely steep and not suitable for very young children or the elderly/anyone with mobility needs. The kids couldn’t open the attic room door when it was closed as it was too heavy- this poses a fire risk.

Location was within 10 minutes walking distance of an excellent selection of restaurants plus not far from Shambles, Minster and Shops. Waverley was well equipped and lounge was comfy and warm. The Kitchen was very well equipped. If anyone wanted to keep costs down - it would be very easy to cook each evening. We made breakfast and chose to eat out during our stay. Lots of different cuisine available nearby.

The only down side for us was a lot of stairs. 3 ladies between 68 - 78 we all had our own rooms. 1 off us in attic room. Whilst there was an en-suite shower room in attic room, the main bathroom was located on ground floor. So the two ladies sleeping on first floor stairs became an issue. The first floor bedrooms are large so may be worth considering converting one to create a toilet and hand basin?? This may not be an issue for younger visitors but for us the stairs became an issue.

Lovely weekend in great place for walking in and around York.

The stairs were a bit steep just to be aware but it is a lovely terraced house lovely warm log burner cosy evening in after a long day out

The location within walking distance to the centre of York, easy parking (thankyou for the premit!), the little gestures such as the Christmas decorations and home made mince pies which were delicious! Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and the owner Mary was very helpful

The house was in a great location! Easy walking distance to the City Centre. It was lovely and warm and very clean. Mary and her husband were perfect hosts. We had everything we needed - the small welcoming touches were a lovely surprise and very thoughtful. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again when we return. Thank you!
