Kyonoyado Gekkoan

This was an absolute gem of a stay and a highlight in our trip to Japan. We were very late arriving back into Kyoto, and had to rush off to a tea ceremony. We hadn't even told our hosts which ceremony we'd booked, but they'd phoned a few and managed to find ours and tell them that we were running late, so they held on for us. Even though we only stayed one night, the attentiveness and helpfulness was second-to-none, and we are very grateful. On the accommodation, it's really rather lovely, with its own Japanese garden overlooked from a large, Kyoto-made pottery bath/hot tub. The amenities are superb, the room was comfortable, cool and quiet and the way that modern and traditional were so expertly fused was a delight. Would happily stay here again and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Kyoto.

Shin and his team were incredibly charming and helpful. They suggested an itinerary for the following day, and sought to help us whenever, however they could. The building was amazing - restored from a 19th century Kyoto home, it allowed us to see some of the materials and elements of those old houses, while having the 21st century amenities.

An amazing stay. We booked this as a treat and a restful stay in the middle of our honeymoon, and it was perfect. We really enjoyed the accommodation, and the staff were ever so diligent attending to all our needs as well as giving us a few honeymoon gifts. This was not just accommodation but an experience! Would highly recommend!

The best place I stayed at in my entire trip to Japan! The hosts were very accommodating and also passionate about the history that surrounds the accommodation. Shin was an amazing host and I am so sad I was only able to stay for one night. They taught us a brief history of the place, helped us organize our stay in Kyoto, and handled getting our bags safely to the next location. I am also studying Japanese and Shin went above and beyond to send over a Kanji book to help me learn! The place was very updated and everything about the stay was amazing!!

The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous. The house wass incredible. Wish we stayed longer.

We had a great stay. The service was exceptional and especially Mr Shin who had gave us a detailed explanation of the inn and Kyoto’s history, Mr Shohei who had made us feel welcomed despite arriving earlier than the specified timing and giving us recommendations of places to visit. The historic artifacts and details of the inn was a definite thing to look out for as well. Overall, we had an exceptional experience and would definitely like to visit again.
