Great location and exceptional host! Large space and very authentic experience.

This stay was truly beyond expectations. The service was exceptional in every way. The hosts prepared wonderful breakfasts each morning, kindly drove us to the train station, and were always available to answer any questions. Their hospitality made us feel genuinely well cared for throughout our stay. The room was spotless and very comfortable, and the yard was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, well maintained, and a perfect place to relax.

Best stay I had in Japan and this is my fourth trip. If you want intimate stay with care you could only get at home, please book with Muta family. They are simply the best. This machiya is magical and flawless. Once in a lifetime experience. Until of course I visit Kyoto again haha

Authenticity

The location was great, so many things/areas are walkable from here, and the Inn is located on a quiet street. When we arrived the hosts took us on a tour of the Inn and then the local area around the inn, which was amazing. The host family truly made this stay special. They were so kind, giving us recommendations, loaning us umbrellas if it was going to rain, and asking us what we did that day when we returned each evening are only a few examples of the many ways they made us feel welcome and cared for. Also must say using the large bath after walking all day was also a great experience.

Nous avons été accueillis 4 nuits par la famille Jeugiya dans une spacieuse machiya pleine de charme (décoration raffinée) et très confortable (futons exceptionnels). Le jardin est magnifique et très agréable. Les services proposés ont largement dépassé nos attentes; équipement de qualité, possibilité de laverie pour le linge, précieux conseils et petits-déjeuners succulents (à ne pas manquer !!!). La maison est parfaitement située à Gion, à 3 min d'une station de métro, et des arrêts de bus, à deux pas de la rivière Kamo, toute proche de plusieurs restaurants et à 15 min à pied de la pagode Hokan-ji et bien d'autres temples... N'hésitez pas à réserver, vous ne serez pas déçu.

The Family that ownes the ryokan is the most warm and kind family that just make you feel right at home. We loved everything about that stay and thank you again for all of your help!

This place, and the lovely family that run it, are wonderful. From the warm welcome, incredible food, personal service, beautiful rooms and garden, stay here if you’re looking for something more nourishing than a traditional hotel in Kyoto. It’s the sort of place that puts your faith back in humanity, and will help you fall even more in love with Japan.
