Kyobu Higashiyama

Excellent service - the hosts were very accommodating and helpful. We were able to check ourselves in and the property was as listed - clean, comfortable and enough room for our large group. Location was good for people happy to walk & explore, otherwise a short & cheap cab ride into the busier parts of town. Plenty of local places to eat (would definitely recommend the Teppanyaki Grill on the corner (pictured) about 5 mins walk from property on the main road - excellent service, food and entertaining!) as well as shrines and interesting places to wander. Convenient mini supermarket 10 mins walk away which was great for fresh fruit & vege, snacks & the essentials. Subway stations about 10 mins walk in both directions for exploring areas further away.

The property provided a washing machine and powder which was excellent but with the cooler weather I wasn't able to dry our clothes so had to go to the local laundromat (about 10mins walk, 100yen for 8mins - HUGE drum though so didn't take long for a large family load) but a dryer would have been really useful at the property. The beds were plentiful and comfy but I would have loved pillows that were a little softer and not quite so thick. Instructions for using the cook top in English would have been really helpful too.

Sensational and peaceful stay in Kyoto, walking distance for many of the temples and amenities. A perfect place for respite after a busy day afoot, Kyobu Higashiyama also has laundry facilities on site.
