"Great sassi!"

10.0

atmospheric, very clean, very central, and Ivana was pro active about some feedback we gave her.

like many Italian cities finding somewhere to park was hard, but that’s the price you pay for being in the old town.

"A unique experience."

10.0

spectacular location in the Sassy area and only a short walk to the main piazza. great experience staying in a cave dwelling.

Free street parking is almost impossible to find, although it was easy enough to gat paid parking and it is only 70c an hour. The metres operate with cash or card and give credit into the next day. This means it gives you free parking between 2000 and 0800 the next day and allows you to extend your ticket into the next day.

"Beautiful, Comfortable, Stay here if you have the chance"

10.0

When I booked this place, I was really excited. I was most excited about the underground cistern. Then as the time approached I got apprehensive as I realized there was no AC (it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit during our stay) and I saw the word "Mosquito Net" in the description. I should not have been apprehensive as the place was VERY comfortable and I think instead of "Mosquito Net" the better word should have been "Window Screen" (we didn't have to wrap a mosquito net around the bed(s), there was a window at the front of the building at the top which we always kept open and it had a screen. There were also double doors; outer doors were like shutters and the inside doors had double-glazed windows and shutters which made it easy to have light. The doors are a bit narrow for American bodies plus luggage but it's easy to open both doors and then it's no problem. The inside was nice and cool and there was a circular fan which we used and felt very comfortable. My whole family went nuts when they saw the place; it was much better than the hotel we had stayed at previously. Very comfortable, beautiful, and a fantastic location, we loved staying there and hope to return as we love Matera and we especially loved staying in the "cave apartment". Bonus - it is only about a 5 minute walk to the closest parking garage. We had some difficulty bringing the luggage to the place as I overpack and the streets are slippery, but going home was great as it was almost all downhill.

I'm nit picking here but I had some confusion with the light switches (I tried to turn the outdoor light off at night but I think it's on a timer located somewhere else). I also had a problem finding the cistern light (it's on the immediate right, but it doesn't look like the other light switches, it's more of a square button). Also, the bathroom floor is slightly higher than the main part of the room so I stubbed my toes a couple of times and I also scared myself by stepping "down" when I didn't realize I was doing that (the color of both floors is the same).
