Rathlin Cottage

The location of Rathlin is very Central to Supermarkets, Shops, Hotels & Restaurants. It is a spacious, probably original Twizel Hydro-Electricity Worker's Cottage that has been renovated over the years since the completion of the "Gye-Normus" Hydro Power/Canals Scheme. The Cottage has everything you need for a stay, the beds are very comfortable & the eating area big enough to feed a small army. All in all, well equiped accommodation that keeps you comfortable & the chilly elements outside in the Alps.

The constant barrage of texts & e-mails regarding raucous behaviour, sneaking in extra people, Rules & Regs, we have our Spys, we'll know if you do anything wrong etc messages. I feel sorry that the Management of Rathlin has had Bad Experiences in the past BUT:- The Wife & I are in our 60's, I am a Retired Electrical Foreman & the Wife is a NSW Govt School Principal. I informed the Management of this fact after the first lot of "do's & don'ts". We are both experienced in handling difficult events & know how to treat other people's property, deal with sticky situations & what we both don't need is constant Rules & Regs sent to us via emails & texts. It made our time in Twizel slightly uncomfortable, thinking that we were being constantly scrutinized & our behaviour observed.

Very nice and spacious three bedroom house. Living room and kitchen is spacious. Clean bathrooms. The house was on the whole very lovely.

The rooms didn't have individual heating. The living area and kitchen were very comfortably heated by a heat pump.

Compleet huis met 3 slaapkamers, haar, centraal gelegen in Twizel. Prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan mount cook en tasman glacier

Great location. Very comfortable beds. Spacious home. This would be ideal for a multigenerational group, two large living rooms.

Mid winter it was hard to keep warm over night

The house was very nice with loads of room. The master bedroom was big with an ensuite plus two other bedrooms a large living room and spacious, well equipped kitchen. There are two enclosed porches to spread out in too and a nice covered BBQ area, although it was too cold for that when we were there. The house had a very comfortable, homely feeling and the log fire was a nice bonus. The location is also good, within walking distance of the town center.

Perhaps a few more plates would have been useful.
