Property was as shown in the listings and was good for what we wanted. It was easy to find although there is a narrow road which leads to the gates where you park your car. Check in via lock box was easy to do. Communication was excellent with Simonetta. She was very helpful and responsive. Unfortunately the WiFi/Internet was not working during our visit but this was not the hosts fault. It was an ideal place for us to explore Lake Como and would be happy to stay again if we come back to Lake Como.

It was as we expected so there was nothing not to like!

Location was really good for us. Quite area and only a few minutes walk to the village. The bus service was also fairly good once we understood how it worked. We ended up walking about 1Km to catch the bus into town, although there was a bus stop nearby, but we couldn't work out the schedule. The flat was furnished with some really nice furniture in the lounge and bedrooms. Big spacious rooms, except the kitchen, which was tiny. Decor was pleasant too except in a few areas which were in need of some "deep" cleaning. See photos

We stayed in 5 different accommodations during our 3 week stay in the Italian Lakes. We are afraid to say that Villa Carla despite the high rental cost, fell well below the standard and well below the Booking.com score of 9 when we booked. In comparison to most of our other stays, this accommodation lacked a number of important (to us), facilities. 1, There is no washing machine (a must of long stay travellers). 2, There is no oven only a small microwave. - We couldn't even heat up a Pizza! 3. Not essential perhaps, but there is no dishwasher. 4. The utensils supplied were woeful. Very old and very cheap! There were no kitchen scissors.. no kitchen knives to cut food. The only knife of any consequence is a 30cm carving knife. 5. The sofa is not longer comfortable although the single chairs were acceptable. Heating - Although the apartment has workable heating, the controls are under the management of the host who apart from a few hours when we arrived, refused to put the heating on for us. Saying "It is not allowed". Despite the temperatures being bellow 14 Degs C. We were left warming ourselves with our outdoor coats on for three nights out of five. Clearly done for economic reasons and ignoring their clients comfort. Cleanliness - The shower cubicle is a disgrace. black mould on the tiles and the joints between the panels. There is no excuse for this as 5 minutes with a bottle of bleach would sort it. The ancient fridge in the kitchen was very dirty, and we were loath to use it. Parking - It was a nightmare to get in and out off. We had a small SUV. I am a very experienced driver and found great difficult navigating the very narrow approach lane into the parking area. an 8 point turn was required to turn the car round so you can drive out. Unfortunately, I damaged the hire car getting out on one occasion causing £250 worth of damage. My fault of course but I bet I am not the first one to scape the wall on the exit!

If you are looking for space, this is the definitely the place - the whole house with 2 bedrooms, living area, dining area & free parking.

The property & the furniture is quite old, although very well-maintained. No washing machine.
