Knockalt Cottage

Location was great, cottage very cosy & pet friendly- lovely to have bread, eggs & milk left for us and turf for the fire, very welcoming host who called in on a very wet evening to explain heating and local walks- thank you!

The cottage was spacious and spotlessly clean. Plenty of room for our party of five (there are four bedrooms and two big reception rooms). Hosts were very kind and helpful, eg explaining how heating worked. They even provided a gift of groceries etc on our arrival, plus wood, firefighters and turf for the fire.

This house is in an idyllic, peaceful location, overlooking Lough Foyle, about 25 minutes walk to Moville town centre and an ideal base from which to explore Inishowen. It was very clean and spacious for our extended family group, with a lovely garden which our dog, Toby also enjoyed. There was outdoor furniture where (weather permitting!) the views can be savoured from over food and/or drink. Our hosts provided milk, bread and eggs to welcome us, which was much appreciated as were the fresh towels midweek. Moville and the surrounding area has lots of good places to eat in or get a takeaway from. The area also has several blue flag beaches and stunning scenery along the Wild Atlantic Way.

The shower in the en-suite needed to have the boiler on first for hot water & the tank didn't seem to keep the water warm for very long. Luckily there was also an electric shower in the other bathroom.

Beautiful house, spacious and not just family friendly but autism friendly. Lovely secure garden and gate with so much space for kids to play. Beds were comfy and even board games to play indoors. Excellent stay, highly recommend.

Loved everything

The house was very clean and lots of space. Hosts very welcoming had fresh milk and bread bought in for us.

Everything in the house suited our family perfectly

•The view is simply breathtaking, stunning location, close to the local amenities. • Clean house, clean bedding. •Good Wi-Fi, and TV set up. •Although not as big as the pictures looks, the Garden is a decent size. •Sofa in the lounge is very comfy. •Unintrusive host, but quick to respond when we had issue with the toaster not working. •Thoughtful bread and milk waiting for us upon arrival.

•The cat. We have a child with allergies and there is a cat continuously trying to enter the property. If you’re a cat person this won’t bother you. We were going to bring our dog along, but I’m glad we didn’t. It would have been hell. The cat is relentless and not deterred by usual shoo tactics. We couldn’t have a window or door open. • Lack of kitchen ware, the tin opener is rusted and doesn’t work and there’s not one serving dish. • One of the mattresses we had to flip on arrival, as there were coils coming through. • En-suite bathroom is covered in mould. We kept the door shut and kept out of there. •Lack of cleaning products, No antibacterial spray or such. •The photos suggest fires are used, there wasn’t anything for a fire. In other places we’ve stayed, there’s been fire lighters etc ready for a little fire. •No outdoor fire pit or bbq. Just a table and chairs. • Battery is running out of the smoke alarm, relentless pipping, we had to take it out early hours of the morning. This is not the hosts fault, obviously cannot predict when power will run out.

Beautiful location, lots of ground around the house. Lots of room in the house, big rooms, hosts left us bread, milk and eggs which was a really lovely touch. Full size fridge and freezer, cooker, loads of crockery, pans etc. Would definitely stay again.
