Golden Bay Hideaway

The fact it was a house truck in it's own private regional park space overlooking a beach for a start! I loved that there was no wifi or TV. My mind chilled out to sounds of nature, birds singing, just the switch off I needed. The different lighting was great too, to create ambience and homeliness. I stayed alone but never felt unsafe. And the outdoor bath was absolutely divine - deep bath, gas-heated water with my book and a drink. Heaven. First time using a composting toilet for me, and I love the idea! For others thinking of booking: if you didn't realise, toilet and bathroom are outside. I personally was fine with that (being someone who needs to "go" overnight). Plus the beds are accessed by a little ladder, the main bed access in the kitchen corner, so be mindful of your ability to climb that.

Unique, private, lovely views from bedroom. The longer we stayed the more little quirky cute features we noticed.

What you get: an excellently built cabin, incredible views, an amazing sound system, comfortable private feeling

What you don’t get: No wifi, no flushing toilet, the shower pressure was extremely sharp and couldn’t be adjusted, towels are microfibre, better to bring your own. No washing machine.

Sleeping arrangement as the bed is like a big bunk bed and its a big challenge to get out of in the middle of the night , very tight to get down . The property suggest that this is for 4 ppl , It would be very tight as its small inside even for two ppl.

The front bunk was a wee bit awkward to access especially when ones knees were stiff after a 12mile walk on the trail 😆 Maybe try the rear one it was a bit easier
