We really liked the property and the concept of it. It was perfect for our little getaway. There was everything we needed.

We were surprised by the compost toilet. We were not expecting it. As i mentioned above i really liked the concept of the property and how they are trying to do everything eco. But for the money we paid i would really expect normal flush toilet and not some smelly big hole called toilet. I am sorry maybe i misread all information before the booking but this was not comfortable for us. On the other hand if you are ok with it than book this hideaway for sure.

"Dream come true get away"

10.0

Location, location, location! It’s easily worth the money for this getaway dream come true. Then there’s the innovative energy saving home. Very comfortable and worth a look see. Last but not least, you are on the less crowded side of Abel Tasman National Park. Dream of taking a kayak ride to a deserted beach? We did. Or a hike on miles of pristine sand and turquoise water with only a handful of other picnickers. We did that too. Go for it you won’t regret it.

Absolutely nothing!

"The views and solitude are what make the place, the house is good but it is overrated."

6.0

outlook great

No soap for shower, no oven baking pan, no insect screens for main door way so very stuffy at night and many bugs came inside if you left the large doors slightly open, too much pressure felt to not only recycle things but then to sort it out into bins, too many don't do this don't do that e.g no shoes inside, don't park in carport if car leaking oil with 3 !!! after the word oil. what are we school kids. what about modernising your stereo system so you can play music from your mobile phone instead of CD's supplied. Room listed as having a washing machine - how about being more upfront, there is no washing machine in the room but in a shed around 500 metres away and when I asked about the setup it took a second message regarding how to use the laundry that I was told it would cost 3 x $2 coins. The money cost is of no issue but how about being open and upfront on how the laundry operates. Made an inquiry if double bed could be made into 2 singles as website says and was told. yes but it would cost $30. I'm pretty sure it would be illegal to charge a persons credit card before they give you the go ahead and agree for that to be done. Hopefully when I get home and check the credit card statement that I haven't been charged or if I was as you wrote `Ok, I'll refund you the $30.' After reading this back it sounds like one big whinge but if you want to charge good dollars be more upfront and don't scrimp on the little luxuries like shower items.

"Beautiful view and easy access to Abel Tasman"

10.0

Gorgeous view in a secluded spot. Very close to Abel Tasman for hiking and you can contact the management for a ride to the park so you can hike back to the greenie. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable and bathroom very clean (a very nice composting toilet setup they've clearly honed in). The outdoor bathtub is a great treat and has hot water. You're a half hour outside Takaka so bring your provisions for the stay and enjoy the view.

There are some cheeky wekas (birds) on the property that will frequent the yard, so just keep an eye on your food if outside and don't leave the door open as they get a bit bold and try to invite themselves inside.

"Unbelievably beautiful."

10.0

This may have been the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. The huge windows facing the water...allowing you to see the beauty from the bedroom, living room, dining room/kitchen were fabulous. The commitment to recycling was great. The outdoor tub....looking over the hills and water (with a glass of wine in hand)...was a piece of heaven.

Driving up and down the hill is scary. We had no problems, but make sure you pick up provisions ahead of time, because you will want to just stay up on the hill and cook, instead of driving up and down.
