Host & Stay - Cobblers Cottage

The location was fantastic just a short walk and I was in the heart of Whitby. I do think some previous reviews had been overly harsh. Yes the property has a fair bit of wear and tear but it was comfy and such an amazing price that I certainly wasn’t unhappy. The instructions given by the lettings company were clear and I found it very easily. Really lovely stay

There were a couple of bits that could do with repair. The landing light didn’t work and the light by the staircase from the front door wasn’t working (thank god for phone torches) the TV also only seemed to have 4 channels so couldn’t get free view

It's such a shame, this lovely little cottage could just do with a really good clean and updating, and it would be fantastic. It could really do with a new kitchen and bathroom. The beds need replacing as they are pine bases and very squeeky. There was no internet or wifi in the property although there should have been so not TV channels. The agents managing the property are a waste of time. They are very nice when speaking with you and say all the right things, but you never hear from them again and nothing is resolved.

The location was fantastic. The cottage was clean, and the beds and sofa were so comfortable. After reading previous reviews, we weren't expecting much, but we really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be booking again next year.

We didn't receive the key code til 4.30pm, which was annoying as the owners knew we were waiting to enter from 3.30pm. I understand they didn't want us in a minute earlier than 4pm, but was at least hoping to be in on time. The light going into the property wasn't working, which wasn't good trying to get in when it was dark. The light bulb on the stairs had also gone too. The Internet wasn't working.

The location is amazing. Comfy bed and sofa, cosy and warm. Nice views.

The small touches could be better. Cleaning wasn't great (e.g. peanuts in the folds of and under the sofa), no showergel or toiletries, no washing up liquid, dishwasher but no dishwasher tablets (therefore previous guests hadn't washed mugs very well), bin liner but no bin, a couple of lights out, internet not working so therefore no TV either. Bathroom heated rail filthy (looked like rust or something rust coloured), kitchen top has a melted hole in it, only three mugs (mismatching and one cracked), only three glasses (property sleeps 4!), front door lock not inspiring (looks like someone has broken in!).

Location was great, along with the views. Bedding and towels were fresh, clean and white.

No welcome pack. No coffee/tea/sugar or milk. No bin in the kitchen, just a black bag for waste. No frying pan, had to buy my own. Cleaning of property needs to be improved. Living room carpet very stained. Dog hair on the edge of the carpet. Dog urine on the sofa along with the stains in need of a good clean. Tea dribbles on paint work. Cobwebs attached to wall and coffee table. Dirty windows inside and out. No handrail for stairs. Some lights needing new bulbs and clock needs batteries. No heating in top bedroom, radiators not working in that room.

The property was ok but the staff who work at booking.com Wer not very helpful as ther was no internet and it never got resolved by them I eventually had to deal with the owner of the property myself

The location of the cottage was perfect.

The cottage was dirty, hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants and also hadn't had a deep clean for sometime. Dust and cobwebs everywhere.

Good location, very comfy, great views, clean and spacious. Good price.

The property has very steep stairs. Not really suitable for visitors with disabilities. This was not stated in the advertisement. Steps in the property were poorly lit and the stairs to bedrooms and landing not working at all which was quite dangerous at night time. Bedroom blinds blocked no light at all, need blackout! There were dirty underwear and denim shorts in the top drawer in the main bedroom. Obviously had not been cleaned thoroughly. Very difficult to park, even in the paid car parks! Always full and I am registered disabled so this proved difficult.

The location was excellent, the apartment was a nice surprise after reading some negative feedback, it was clean, very spacious, and decorated really well.

The blinds do not distract light and struggled to sleep.
