Host & Stay - Cobblers Cottage

The kitchen was well equipped, the living room sofa was comfortable and spacious, the living room was nicely decorated and well furnished.

Didn't sleep well due to blinds in the bedrooms letting lots of light in, the TV only showed 6 channels on the guide, wasn't cleaned well(dirty doorsand walls, cups and glasses, says dog friendly but just before you arrive you get a list of what the dog isn't allowed to do, this should be listed before booking. The light on the stairs from the front door was barely lit, the landing light didn't work at all. Kitchen tap was loose and wobbling about, cut off cables hanging loose. Wall paper and plaster peeling off. When you're asked to pay £250 security deposit or take out an insurance policy against damage you expect the place to be in good repair and it wasn't, it's not the worst place I've stayed in Whitby but it needs lots of small jobs doing, which if we're done would make the place really good.

Clean and comfortable apartment. Great location.

Please can mattress protectors be used on the beds? Please can WiFi issue be sorted out?

We struggled to find the property as there was no number or property name, the lady in the dry cleaners showed us how to access the property which was above. The property was stiflingly hot as both living room Windows were painted shut and the cords broken. Up stairs the double bedroom was ok but shared it's mirror with the twin room and both windows in the twin room were blocked by the blind so couldn't be opened, 3 floors up would have thought a health and safety issue. Ther kitchen was basic with very few pots and pans everything was a mismatch of oddments. Behind the double bed it was filthy best not to look. The front door to the property opens outwards on to steep steps and the fans from the dry cleaners blow hot dusty air straight at the door. I feel there has been no effort after looking at past reviews to maintain this property as some of these problems are ongoing for years.

Location was excellent, plenty of space for a family .harbour view was lovely too .

Could do with up dating ,door to property very dirty and needs attention, step dangerous quite big drop to the side,wifi never worked ,windows on outside need cleaning did contact the host to tell them these things so hopefully will rectify these plus pic on booking.com isn't the entrance to the property !

Very little, it’s drab, dirty and really needs a refurb

Dirty, dated I can see that a number of other guests have complained about the lights not working on the stairs, and no lights on the entrance stairs These comments date right back to April 2023, so it is clear that the owner has very little regard for the safety of guest and is more interested in the money coming in. The place is a death trap, I wouldn’t stay here again for free.

TV did not work, shower leaked

The location was really good.

The tv was broken. We reported it on the first day and the owner never responded.

The location is good as you are very close to town, we only paid for parking on one night ,the rest of the time we managed to get a free parking slot.

(1) The entrance to the property is not the one that is advertised (see video) (2) The door and frame looks like it’s been broken into and the canopy looks like it’s going to fall off. (3) The key safe is right above the drain and the key did go down there. (4) The 2 steps has no fall protection and the door doesn’t open fully so you have to stand on the edge of the step to get in and out. (5) The steps inside the property are steep and narrow with inadequate lighting. (6) We cleaned all the utensils before we used them after seeing the frying pan with the dried up egg in it. (7) We had no working tv all week even after reporting it the same day we checked in. (8) There is also a constant damp smell which I dare say is from the industrial laundry downstairs. (9) Windows are dirty and don’t open in the living room.
