Loved how we had the run of whole property loved how we could fit our large family there wif all the rooms and kids loved the swimming pond and spa it kept them busy all day everyday we loved everything about it and we will be returning

Only thing i wished there was a washing machine

This is our third year we've had our yearly family holiday here. We love Heartland Eco Retreat!! Hamish is an awesome host, attentive yet leaves you to it. We love being immersed in the native forest, it's soooo peaceful and quiet. Absolutely awesome place to relax and unwind. We love being disconnected from the busy world, no t.vs, no wifi, just solar power no other people it ticks all the boxes for our family. The earthen homes are cool during the day and warm in the evenings. The hot tub is always awesome to enjoy the night sky. We always look forward to coming back here to this beautiful space.

Our 3 nights and 4 days always seem to go by so fast. It's so hard to leave this piece of paradise

Loved the quiet peaceful atmosphere, the open fire, huge table that was perfect for family meals, ample furniture and immaculategrounds. Grateful to Hamish for his help with the oven and fire lighting skills, and for lending Diesel.

It wasn't as clean as I would have expected. Cobwebs, exposed dishes, a shower drain with someone else's hair. One of the exterior rooms stunk of incense so we couldn't use it. The oven pilot light switch didn't function and neither did the fridge.

Fabulous off-grid location... We'd stayed before so knew how good it was. Loved having the whole place to ourselves... although it's great to share with friends. The red part cement of the building's interior is so unusual, quirky and atmospheric. Wonderful, friendly dog... we called him Vincent as he'd lost part of one ear.

My own incompetence with the pizza oven.

We love everything about the Heartland Eco Retreat. Immersed in nature, utter peace and quiet and Hamish is an awesome host. Secluded and private and has everything you need to be comfortable. No wifi, no t.v allows you to disconnect from the outside world and be present in all moments. We've stayed here a few times now and we're already looking to book again. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us, we can't wait to come again.

We didn't like leaving 😭 I could stay there forever.

Loved the quiet, sitting in front of the fire place reading. Beautiful location. Loved Diesel the dog, he was always keen for a little love and a treat.

The incense smell.

I didn’t like the property I LOVED the property & everything about it. Quiet, relaxing, gorgeous surroundings I could go on & on about this property.

Only thing I didn’t like was that the other bathroom shower never got hot or even warm enough to get shower.

We have stayed here before and I absolutely love it. Off grid and out of the hustle and bustle of a busy town. The home is homely feeling and cute and quirky. Hamish is an awesome host. It rained most of the time so we made good use of the fire, pizza oven and the hot tub. Definitely one of the best places to get off your phone and be present in the moment. My family travelled from Auckland and they absolutely loved every minute of our stay here. Check in was easy, it's peaceful and private.

We loved everything no complaints here.

The setting of the accommodation was very nice and peaceful. A great place to be and relax.

The cleanliness of the accommodation, in part due to the nature of the building was ok but could have been better. As well the kitchen and dining equipment cleanliness were somewhat doubtful.
