HORTUS HOUSE - Regency style apartment with attached parking

The location, the welcome, the style and attention to detail of the property, off-street parking. The warm welcome from our hosts. The welcome hamper of snacks, breakfast assortment, fresh juice and milk, great selection of teas etc. Property was within easy walking distance to the Town centre and harbour, a convenient bus stop was minutes away with a very good service if you don't fancy the walk. The way the apartment had been renovated and furnished was beautifully done, the four poster was really comfy and we slept well and had a very peaceful relaxing stay. We were made to feel like family, Bethany & Christopher certainly made our stay one to tell our friends and family about.

Great choice of breakfast items. Cereals bread baked beans milk butter jam. Plus pop corn nibbles and biscuits. All left for us to do in our own time. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Made us feel so welcome. Stayed three nights. Wished we could have stayed longer !! Only 20 minute walk into brixham. No big hills !! We didn’t use our car. Walked everywhere. And used local bus to kingswear as bus stop outside property. The house has lots of history which we would want to explore on our next visit. Hosts even gave me bottle of wine for my birthday. Definitely recommend this place. Much better than a hotel!!! Thanks.

A very special, quirky, serene environment- with a very warm welcome and thoughtful touches. Very comfortable bed, fluffy white towels, elegant lighting and quiet in spite of being an on street location. Private garden which will be gorgeous in late Spring and summer. We like fending for ourselves in laid back fashion, and there were generous supplies for breakfasts!

Some people will find the entrance a little challenging - just follow the advice and parking is fine.

The house looked amazing! Great location in a very quiet area. The house was very clean and if you want a weekend away to relax, I highly recommend Hortus house. Parking was also a plus. Everything was really nice and we had a lovely stay from the second we arrived until we left thank to our host! We will definitely be back and we will recommend the property to all our friends! The hosts were incredible from start to finish - communication was easy, and Bethany was always on hand to offer suggestions about things to do, and checked in regularly to make sure our stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed. they provided a breakfast hamper and stocked the little fridge with water, orange juice, milk butter and jam. the kitchenette has a microwave, there is an electric hot plate along with kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery so you can cook something for yourself. tea and coffee making facilities (kettle and filter coffee machine). There is no TV, (which I was happy about), but there is Wi-Fi, and plenty of literature and board games to while away the time on rainy days. Hortus house has a private entrance for guests and is decorated in regency style, perfect if you are a Bridgerton fan! The bathroom is modern with a walk in shower, fresh towels, essential toiletries (soap shampoo) and hairdryer. There is a comfy four poster, plenty of pillows and warm duvet - best 5 night’s sleep in ages!! The house is situated in Higher Brixham, and a private parking space is available. The location is ideal as it a 20-minute walk into the town centre, 25 minutes to Mansands beach and the SW Coast path. Milton Street takes you to straight to Kingswear/Dartmouth (about 10 minutes by car to either the higher or lower ferries on the River Dart). The apartment we had is ideal for couples looking for a relaxing and quirky stay. Excellent value for money. will definitely stay there again.

Exceptional in everything

This is a very nice place and tastefully decorated with useful facilities such as microwave and coffee maker, decent shower etc. I was there in not great circumstances but location is great for SW Coast Path and some really nice coastline.
