"OK but we felt quality did not match price."

6.0

Interesting old stone-build mid-terrace cottage. Everything clean and functional. L-shaped seating in the lounge worked well. Gravel area at the front (though not rear garden) dog-proof. Nice bathroom. Cooker and fridge fine. 10 minutes walk from town centre. Friendly community pub opposite (proper pub - very limited food).

All a bit spartan, so not good value for money. Single bathroom down steep uncarpeted stairs (though nice) was barely adequate for six people. Kitchen equipment was of decent quality but not enough of it - e.g. no cafetiere, no potato-masher, low on kitchen knives and ovenware. Some of the work on the house (e.g. awkward outer gate fastening, minimal hooks in the porch and amateurish banister on the stairs had been done on the cheap. Good-size lounge was OK but would have been much cozier with a few table lamps, more decorations - and making some use of half the room adjacent to the stairs, which is just left empty. A relatively trivial, but telling, example: no logs left, even for the first night - and no information pack in the house saying where to buy logs (or the rest of the details usual made available with holiday lettings). Information about recycling and use of the communal garden was sent by text - useful but inadequate.

Lovely, comfy property, which was perfect for our short stay. The living room has a great corner sofa, ideal for our family and the beds were very comfortable, so everyone felt at home and well rested. The off street parking was very welcome.

"A good base for exploring Corsham and surrounding areas"

8.0

We had travelled to Corsham at short notice for a funeral and needed to take our dog with us - Quirky Cottage was in the perfect location for what we needed. It certainly is a quirky cottage - low beamed ceilings, uneven floors, squeaky stairs ... just what you would expect in a Cotswold cottage! The cottage is well-equipped with all of the basics that you'll need and it was lovely and clean. The bathroom and kitchen have been recently and well refurbished. We were very glad of the enclosed space for our dog to stretch his legs in a safe environment.

We would have really appreciated some guest information - we didn't realise until we got there that Corsham is famous for peacocks that wander around the town and we only discovered that because we looked it up on the internet. The owners have missed an opportunity to connect with their guests here! We also would have REALLY appreciated some milk for a brew in the fridge after arriving late on a Sunday evening after a long and traffic-delayed journey, or at least some information on where to find somewhere that was open for us to buy some.
