Kowhai Cottage & Studio

The property provided a separate self contained bedroom with bathroom which made it very private for travelling with two couples. Nice to have plunger coffee provided. The outdoor area upstairs was well appointed with comfortable seating. The property was well styled.

There was no PowerPoint in the bathroom of the main house which made drying hair awkward. Many of the kitchen and bathroom utensils/appliances were sticky or needed a good clean.

It’s a very cute, calm cottage and setting. The garden out house / sleep out is fabulous. It’s very comfortable and clean. Bed in sleep out was super comfy, double bed in bedroom in house is soft, the two singles are soft to medium! Good shower. It had decent kitchen utensils etc.

This only matters to our family, thus please note this does not apply to all persons keen to book the cottage. It’s the perfect space for adults or those with teenagers - not small kids like us. The house is a tiny cottage. It has one bedroom in the main house. The second bedroom is outside the main house, down stairs toward the garden and then you go under the house and that’s where the second bedroom with two single beds is; under the house. It’s a little dark but it’s cosy. The issue was, to go to the toilet (during the nights) or shower you had to go outside and up and old wooden stairs. This was an issue for us at night with our little kid. The third bedroom is a sleep out with its own bedroom. It’s separate from the house. It’s warm and cosy - even in winter. It has its own bathroom. I would stay again on a couples or girls trip, just not a trip with small kids! A better description of the house ie: fact only one bedroom is in the house, second is under the house and third is a sleep out would be advised. We left a day early due to kids and toilets during the night etc. Better storage would be advised. There is no where in any bedroom to put your clothes and unpack.

It was further to the shops than anticipated and the parking was a bit busy in the driveway. The twin room really needs its own toilet/ensuite for 3 single travelers.

Loved the character of the cottage. Loved the studio garden.

Took a bit longer to walk to town than we expected 15-20 mins.

Plenty of space to ourselves for our stay in Raglan. Nice historic charm. Private. Short 5 min walk to a restaurant and a fish and chips takeaway. Overall, we enjoyed our time there!

Parking is very tight and we cautiously backed into the parking spot. A bit removed from the town center. About a 20 min walk uphill on the way back.

Charming cottage , lovely position and gardens. Quiet

Wow, what a great location! A short stroll to town and with a short walk up Llilly Street to the steps that take your down to the Wallis Whalf and shops and cafes/restaurants. Our family group had three sleeping areas to choose from, as adults, we decided on the sleep-out surfboard room with an ensuite, what an amazing quiet private space. This allowed our teenagers to choose single beds room and double in the cottage with bathroom. Everyone had their own personal space. And when we came together we had the upstairs outdoor entaining area or cottage lounge. The cottage was clean, tidy, and very homely, everything was there that we required, the instructions were very clear. Also, the linen was superb—fresh and clean, with ample towels, something that has been lacking in other B&Bs. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will be back.

There is a choice of three sleeping areas and three entertaining areas, all very separate. The location is superb and very quiet.

Everything you need with great styling . Felt like a homely relaxing holiday villa .
