Matukituki Lodge

Superb location. Very pleasant accommodation, especially as there were no others there.

We could have felt quite uncomfortable had it been necessary to share kitchen, dining and living room with strangers. Of course this may have been wonderful, with the right people; and of course there was no compulsion to risk it if we didn’t want to. The tariff stretched the friendship. I would have found it much more acceptable if there had been an invitation to fish the river on the property; or walk the nearby hills, under whatever instruction might have been deemed necessary. Especially as there was little else one could do there other than by car.

An exceptional property offering a unique view from its quiet, rural setting of Matukituki station, Matukituki river and Mount Aspiring, but with close-enough proximity to Wanaka (40 min drive). The hot tub was an absolute delight - morning, noon, afternoon or in the evening under the stars. A well-designed common space with dining area and lounge with very comfortable sofas to relax into by the fire (not that we needed one - thanks to the sun warming the lounge during the day (our stay was in early September)). Kitchen, laundry and bathrooms with all you needed for a stay. The bedrooms were of a good size, with great views and very comfortable beds! The host is very welcoming and super helpful.

Didn't dislike anything!

Location was absolutely stunning! To wake up every day nestled in the mountains was a real joy. Driving into town was pleasant and not that long. Fully recommend to anyone hesitant about the distance from town.

Great location, stunning views down the valley into the mountains. Lovely log fire, and hot tub under the stars even in midwinter.

Not possible to walk in surrounding fields as landowner will not allow it.

The location is beyond beautiful.

The location is awesome, private n only surrounded by the mountain n animals. The view is absolutely breathtaking. I love the way to check in n check out. Stress free.

Not clean enough, many dead insect in the bathroom but didn’t wipe away. Heater in the hallway is not working. Not a big issue but can be better.

An amazing place to stay! We loved our time at the lodge

It is very easy to get key: the owner/manager send us the check-in information during the day of our arrival. The house is clean, specious. The view to the mountain and field is great. The wireless works fine, which is important because there is no mobile net coverage in the area. The kitchen is well stocked. It is so quiet. We have thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there.

No mobile phone net in the area. This is a problem we encountered many places in the south island.
