Squirrel cottage

The owners were very helpful from the start, even suggesting a reliable taxi firm who could ensure we were able to get to and from the wedding we were attending (especially important for me, as I was the best man!) The property was clean, comfortable and very well priced. The only problem we had is that we didn't stay longer!! If we are ever back in the area for hiking and taking in some scenery, this would be the perfect place to be located!

Parking was a little difficult due to the property being located at a fork in the road. Fine for my other half in her Fiat 500 but having a larger vehicle could be problematic. It would be possible to park the vehicle further down the road though if needed.

Lovely little cottage in peaceful area,completed to a high standard and very clean. It's well equipped and we had everything we could have wanted.

Public safety concern. AVOID AVOID AVOID On 13/2, during my booking of squirrel cottage, I reported cracking in a glass panel which I had not caused and which since has been proved by a professional 3rd party that I had not caused. However, with no respect for privacy, the owner announced that he would come to the property immediately and insisted even after me pointing out it was close to 10pm and that I would soon be in bed. The verbal exchange lasted almost 20 minutes and consisted mostly of his sustained, vulgar, insulting, illogical and plainly false claims that I had damaged the glass. As I had never met this person before, there was no prior form of rhetoric between us and his menacing tone ending in him ejecting me from the property at after 10pm left me convinced that he would have physically assaulted me if I had resisted more than to try to point out the incorrectness of what he assumed. Clearly, this left me shaken and without accommodation late at night. This event has been logged by the relevant authorities due to my concerns around safeguarding, especially in the potential case of a vulnerable person occupying this or the other properties owned by this proprietor who I see as wholly unfit to be a holiday let host. The proprietor has registered a claim against me for damage of this glass panel which he lists as having a value of GBP500,- According to the professional 3rd party and reseller of the brand of decorative glass he repeatedly mentioned have confirmed that the standard, non-heat treated glass used within 5 inches of a cooking hob is unsuitable and has a value of approx. GBP100,- Therefore, I must consider that there was also an attempt to defraud. Conclusively, a grotesquely inappropriate and violent reaction to a simple report of small damage, which if he had handled it in a civil manner, would have been resolved quickly with insurance, even if he had insisted it was still my responsibility, despite proving that I was not the cause.
