L'al Cottage, Sockbridge

We were visiting family in the vacinity. Location was good for that. We only actually slept in the cottage.

Nowhere to hang the bath towels to dry in the bathroom.

Very cosy and comfortable. You did not want for anything. The hosts were charming, everything about it was 5*

Not the owners fault but the flies.

The cottage is beautiful, well equipt and in a good location. There is good parking and it was dog friendly for a small extra cost. The host was very helpful, there were roadworks which made the route difficult but it would have been impossible without extra help from Gavin!! They left us welcome drinks and biscuits which were a lovely surprise. If you visit here you are local to the stunning village of Pooley Bridge and a short drive from Penrith. There are a number of local walks and the host has provided a mini library of books about the area to help with exploration.

The hot water ran out late at night, I had to have a cold shower at 11.30pm. It was OK because it was summer but it would have been very difficult in winter. There was a bottle of someone else's toiletries left in the shower leaving us to question how much cleaning had taken place before our visit. The freezer compartment of the fridge didn't close properly meaning our cool packs didn't fully freeze for our picnic bag, this wasn't a massive issue but if we had been freezing food it would have been.

The property was in the perfect location, very central and easy to find! Cottage was well stocked and very homely!

The traditional, quirky cottage; very cosy, tastefully decorated, well-eqipped and comfortable. The local residents were incredibly welcoming and friendly. A great location for exploring Penrith, Pooley Bridge, Ullswater, Aira Force, Glenridding and Patterdale. Having a little outdoor space to sit, chat, socialise and enjoy the evening sunshine after a fabulous day out.

Very lovely stay, a beautiful location with a park a few meters away and a wonderful pub 10 minutes walk with roaring fire and local ales. A great time was had and should IK find myself in the area again we'll be back!
