Te Maiki Retreat - Russell Holiday Home

The view of the village and port was outstanding. Russell is still charming. Well appointed. Easy walking distance into town and ferries. Had a teapot but no egg cups.

Looking a bit tired and in need of TLC. As ever, uncomfortable Kiwi seating.

The view was amazing and location convenient to town and the car ferry. The beds were comfortable and the living areas was spacious.

I really wanted to love this place. It was our longest stopover in our two week NZ holiday. I think it had been a while since the house was used. It needed to be aired out thoroughly long before we arrived. There was a pervasive, unpleasant, musty smell that was impossible to get rid of. Because there are no screens on windows and doors- we ended up with a house full of mosquitoes, moths and flies when we opened the house up to air. All the surfaces were slightly sticky, so I had to wipe everything over and wash all the dishes we planned to use before cooking. The kitchen needs to be upgraded. The wood has swollen and kitchen drawers are really difficult to open and close. The deck is rotten and really not safe- especially for children. I didn’t feel comfortable standing out there. The shower pressure also isn’t great and the shower/tiolet is really cramped.

Loved the view! Loved being able to walk everywhere

The property is getting a little tired e.g. some of the mugs were stained and chipped and need replacing. Curtains need modernising. There was a problem with ants, poison was left out however it is not working as we needed to regularly spray the kitchen bench, the bathroom and the ranch sliders.

View, utensils,bbq,windows high ceilings, very relaxing.

Deck needs replacing, the photos make it look newer, which it is not. Driveway and road on property very very steep and somewhat difficult to use. Average driver probably has trouble.

The view was spectacular from both the deck and lounge room.. Close to Russell Town. Good kitchen.

The single beds were a little in the hard side. The tv should be a smart tv as the one they had rarely worked. Driveway into carport a little tricky

The view of the bay from the deck was absolutely breathtaking.
