Casa Reis

Quiet location. Within 300m a shop and a smaller bar. Within about 1km a pleasant restaurant. Ocean view. Owners pleasant and caring. They gave us fruit and wine.

An elderly person may have a problem with the spiral staircase to the second floor, where there are bedrooms and a bathroom with a toilet. We didn't mind anything.

Beautiful location and very convenient for hiking. Clean with a well equipped kitchen.

The hosts were very kind. The kitchen was well equipped and thier was a washing machine and drier. The accommodation / location was quiet with great views and good walks. Down the hill, at the end of the road was a local, traditional bar without the tourist prices!

We were unlucky with the weather making the house a little cold and dark but in spring and summer this house would be perfect ! Electric heaters are provided. Wood and fire lighters were provided for the very temperamental wood burning stove.

The owner was very kind and left us some fresh fruits and a traditional cake! There are also some traditional products available for purchase inside the house at normal retail price which was very attentive. Location wise the site is incredible surrounded by mountains. There is a small mini-market a couple of minutes walk which is handy. It was a nice and clean old fashioned house, well-equipped kitchen with a toastie maker, kettle etc there's also a washing machine and dryer. The shower had lovely water pressure and the bed was comfortable.

Parking is outside on the side of the road, it's a quiet area and there were no issues but just be aware and don't expect to park in the property. Some of the sofas need retiring, especially the larger one in front of the TV as that ends up being the one you're more likely to use and is just in dire need of replacement. Other ones are awkwardly placed so you can't really watch TV from them, might be handy if there's more people at the property perhaps but not a very practical or comfortable arrangement. We also had an encounter with two cockroaches inside the house, easily sorted but noteworthy. There was also no BBQ in the property, the owner lives next door and I'm not sure whether there might have been one in his backyard perhaps, we didn't ask but it's not quite the same just keep that in mind.

Staying at Casa Reis in Madeira was definitely the best option!! The house is well located, comfortable and has everything that you need for your stay in the island :) If we would return again to Madeira for sure we will come back to Casa Reis!!!
