Casa do Miradouro

Good location, rooftop patio was a plus. The hosts were friendly and provided some cookies and fruit as a welcome gift, which was appreciated. Everything we needed was provided. The amenities were good.

The house was cool and the heaters could not provide enough heat. We could only use one heater when working in the kitchen or the main breaker would trip. We found the beds a bit too hard for our liking. Other than that we were happy with the stay and the location.

The terrace was my favourite spot. The typical rustic decoration and type of traditional architecture style is very charming. The view from the terrace is breathing and the location of the house is indeed excellent. It was a lovely stay.

This accommodation was the most amazing beautiful incredible home. We have been travelling a long time in Europe and it was the very best we have ever had the pleasure to stay in.the host left cookies, fruit everything she could possibly think of to make us feel comfortable. The decore is so besutidul, the bed the most comfortable and the view from the top deck was breathtaking. I fell in love with this accommodation and didn’t want to leave. Everything you could think of was on hand ..including a food processor, coffee machine, the best kitchen utensils and the finer things in life. Even the linen on the bed was of the highest quality! Absolutely superb …should be 10 plus plus plus rating!

I didn’t like that we only had booked for two nights. Monsanto is like walking into a Medieval village ..no wonder the sequel to game of thrones was filmed here. Didn’t want to leave and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Europe!

This house is perfectly located. It is charming and has a lovely terrace at the top. One of only a few in Monsanto. We loved the stary sky at night.. the stars are so clear and the sunset amazing. Maria left snacks for us and a lovely fruit basket. The kitchen is fully equipped. We even did a load of laundry and hung out on the terrace to dry. Maria arranged parking for us inside the city steps from the apartment. We went to Penha Garcia for a second hike to the castle there and a look at the beautiful countryside and fossils there. The walk to the Castle in Monsanto is also a don't miss.

There were only a couple of small stores in the village that had minimal supplies and most restaurants were closed while we were there. We ended up eating bread cheese and wine on our terrace so that was all good. We suggest picking up supplies before going into the town. Out visit was early October. Loved these two areas so much!!

The property had an awesome roof deck. This was the best location to see the sunset. Great for morning coffee and just sit and watch the world wake up.

The view from the top deck is stunning! That was totally unexpected.

The hot water in the shower was intermittent and placed a bit of a damper on our stay.

Location was amazing, including a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the historic village and mountain top castle. The geological features in Monsanto, granite 'perched' boulders, and the castle, are unique 'must see' experiences. Hosts Maria and Mendes met us at the property and organised parking for us close to the house. The property was very well appointed, with washing machine, large kitchen, good WiFi, and we were even given local cookies, fruit and honey wine to make us feel welcome. Our hosts recommended local restaurants, and generally were very helpful in settling us in and making our stay comfortable. Thank you Maria and Mendes!

We enjoyed the ability to walk the town and come back to relax on the terrace. The host was delightful and very accommodating.

Beautiful medieval town. Property has a roof terrace with a panoramic view of the town and surrounding countryside.

Payment arrangements could be better. No facility for paying when booking or by credit card at the property. ATM in Monsanto was not working properly, so getting enough cash required a 20 km drive to functioning ATM.
