Refúgio da Vila

The cottage is located just below the walls of Monsaraz village so very close, so ideal. There are quite a few cafes and restaurants in the village and especially Xarez was really good. It has everything you need and the owner allows dogs. It has a fantastic little terrace/balcony.

As we were in late October it is quite chilly and the houses here are not made for colder months really so it really does get cold. However there is a little heather in the living room and the bedroom but the kitchen can get quite cold. No reflection on this accommodation. It's the same where ever you go.

Quiet location. Character cottage with lovely roof terrace and stunning views. Dog friendly.

Kitchen area dark - not enough light to prepare food. Needs under unit lighting.

History steeped in every corner and fabulous view

Hard to find with google maps. Maps kept taking us to wrong place. A hard copy or tips on how to navigate would be helpful

This apartment was lovely and filled all our needs. It is in the most perfect location to explore Monsarraz as you are quite literally on the doorstep. There is parking right outside the door which was a huge bonus. The house is fully equipped and comfortable and I would recommend to anyone visiting to stay there if you can.

I have no criticisms of the apartment.

Well located centrally, beautiful view ,comfortable bed and great host. Stay here if you can. Close to castle and excellent restaurants.

Could do with more cooling options eg aircon downstairs. Main bedroom has aircon , but downstairs can be warm.

Quaint villa with enough room to sleep the 3 of us just a short walk outside the castle walls. Loved the ease of parking just outside the villa. The host was very helpful and friendly during our check-in. Beautiful views of the lake and city all around. The terrace was the highlight and we were able to see the stars wonderfully across this dark sky area. The villa was very clean and well appointed.

Main bed was fine but the sleeper sofa was not comfortable. Wifi did not work well but fortunately we did not need it to use it. Refrigerator did not cool down.

This is a beautiful quirky apartment, it was spotless. Isabel greeted us so warmly and the property had so many little extra touches that made it really special, We were there for only one night and didn’t cook but it seemed to have everything you would need. Really comfy bed and spacious bedroom. The views from the property are amazing and the little terrace beautiful. A walk literally around the corner gives you stunning views over Alqueva Lake and another few yards up the hill takes you into the caste and the village of Monsaraz. This is a truly special and individual place.

Some might have a problem with no wi fi but in all honestly we appreciated the break from it and the mobile signal is fine,
