Bachylis Self Catering

Friendly and welcoming host on this cottage attached to the farm. Quiet area overlooking the loch, but only 12 minutes into the main town. The cottage was exceptional; with regard to the facilities on offer and the room available. We had everything we needed in the cottage as well as the space to cionently store our clothes and gear. We loved staying there and we loved coming back to our temporary home at the end of a busy day exploring the island. Thank you for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable. I even asked the host to supply us with a week of sunshine, which she did!

The whole ambiance of the cottage and adjoining farm made for a perfect holiday experience. Shona was helpfull and provided a lovely welcome pack. The position of the cottage could not be bettered for access to the island. We are aready talking to friends and family about them visiting Orkney and staying at the cottage.

Shona and Billy were so friendly and helpful. The cottage is very comfortable and was toasty warm on arrival. Shona provided a lovely welcome pack including eggs, a home baked cake and various Orkney treats. It is located about halfway between Kirkwall and Stromness so is really handy for all the sites in the western mainland.

Location was phenomenal. Great views from the windows. And nicely set back from the road but only 15 minutes to Kirkwall and its facilities and amenities and about the same to Stromness. The beach was a few minutes drive and in view of the house. Ring Of Brodgar and Neolithic World Heritage Site was only about 10 minutes away also. It was self-catering but the hosts left us fresh farm eggs and milk for our first breakfasts as well as other Orkney delicacies. Hosts were so very friendly and helpful. The bungalow was spotless. Great tv for viewing the football. It was warm. Kitchen had all the amenities and like the bathroom, front room and bedrooms was spotless. Orkney is absolutely wonderful and I could not recommend this holiday stay enough. I would move in tomorrow.

To be honest we just could not fault anything - it was a wonderful house. And we would love to return. A great base to explore the other islands.

Our hosts went beyond the call of duty. Provided us with cake and eggs free. Helped when I'd a problem with my car.

Lovely welcome from the host, Shona. Very comfortable cottage. Loved the little goodies on arrival. Fabulous views - loved seeing Hen Harriers and hares every day (not guaranteed for everyone!). Great location.
