Good size for a family, clean and with all you need for a week stay. Good information from the host of the activities available around.

Location was excellent. Very close to the beach & very private. The

In Skylark Chalet the plumbing fitments need some maintenance. Loose taps & shower fittings. Lack of plug for the wash hand basin.

Not much

The cleanliness, the uncomfortable furniture, bins to be kept indoors, the dirty smelly floor mop at the front door nettles and thistles 4 foot high no beach view. The dirty light fitting with only 1 bulb broken fire hearth.........

"Good location but needs work"

7.0

The cabin is in a good location for exploring the wider area of Dumfries, a short walk to a stoney beach, lovely pub called The Steamboat Inn just 5 minute walk up the beach. There is plenty of wildlife around, lots of rabbits and birds and deer. The hoover was very good thankfully.

The cabin on arrival looked lovely, but when we entered, we found large (6-7inch) cobwebs in just about every corner of every room with a lovely collection of dead crane flies, among other things attached, we hoovered the place through and carried on about our holiday until going to bed that evening at around 10pm, when we turned on the bedroom light to see that the whole wall behind our bed was covered from top to bottom with webs - out came the hoover again. The barbecue at the property was disgusting, it was rusted through and thick with burnt on dirt (we had a barbecue meal at the property but bought a disposable and put it on top of the barby that was there.) The bathroom floor has serious water damage that appears to have been rotting for a long time, the floor is actually a different colour where the damage is and sinks when walked on so should have been looked at further before renting out. The double bed mattress was very tired with sunken parts either side and a ridge in the middle of the mattress. The dishwasher had no rinse aid or salt in it - we understand this is a self-catering property, but if it has a dishwasher, surely it should be maintained for people to use? We did enjoy the beach and had a few (shoes on) walks both to the pub and the other way round the points, it's very beautiful but, it should be made clear that it's a very stoney and shelly beach and the water isn't suitable for swimming or paddling,in fact it doesn't come in close enough very often either. The whole place needs a whole lot of maintenance and a proper cleaning company, to make sure it's fit for a holiday let in my opinion.

The chalet was in a great location, was dog friendly and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This included, a great pub, The Steamboat Inn just a short walk away along the beach. The log burning stove kept us cozy even when the weather outside was stormy.

Nothing about to the Chalet or location but the public roads had some of the worst potholes we have seen.
