"Comfortable, homely, perfect location for exploring West Cornwall!"

9.0

We travelled to Penzance via the Sleeper train from Paddington, arriving at 7.30am. The hosts very kindly allowed us to check in as soon as we arrived rather than the usual 4pm. This was a life saver with three young children who were tired and grumpy. The property was a sweet, traditional cottage with stone walls, and quaint decor. The hosts were very thoughtful, filling the chest of drawers in the living room with games for children and families, a guitar and TV with WiFi available too. These thoughtful touches made our stay so homely and comfortable. The rooms over two floors were bright, spacious and very comfortable. The location was excellent, being only 5 mins from the town centre, the bus and train station and local amenities such as the Jubilee pool. It was the perfect location for which to make trips to St Ives via the train, Newlyn and Marazion via the bus. We also travelled to Pendeen Via the bus station, so it is an excellent resting pad for those interested in slow travel. We also hired a car, and though parking was limited, always found a spot. The local neighbours were all so lovely and friendly, greeting us every morning, which made our stay all the more special. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Trevise Cottage, and would recommend both the cottage, location and hosts to other families too. It was the perfect place to explore West Cornwall from. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

"We didn't feel welcome by the host at this property"

3.0

The only thing is that the beds were comfortable.

The day before arriving, the host wanted us to sign an extra Terms and Conditions that infringe on our rights, and made us feel completely unwelcome at the property. The T&C sounds very ominious, for example, the host reserves the right to remove us from the hotel without refund if they deem us to be causing reputation damage to them. Reputation damage is not specified, and may thus include things like we are not dressed sufficiently nicely, or if our appearances are not deemed good looking. The T&C also asks us to give up any rights to make claims if hosts' negligence for a wide range of causes, including damage to our properties at the lodging, eg., in case of an fire. The T&C demands that we make all complains through the hosts, when the correct avenue is through booking.com, and demands that we pay legal fees in an event of damage to the lodging, without the court first deciding who should pay for the legal fees. These clauses blatant infringes on our rights, and the host waits til the last day before demanding their signature, making our booking seem uncertain. We have to spend countless hours calling booking.com to ask about these T&C's validity (they are not..!), and getting booking.com to call the host, and then negotiating with the host to tell them we wont sign them, and potentially spend more time looking for alternatives. The tone of the T&C is very hostile, makes us feel completely unwelcome at the property. The hosts wants to play landlord at a hotel, there's a complete lack of customer service. Also, the hosts asks for personal information as a condition for staying at the lodging, such as our home address, which infringes on our privacy, booking.com tells us not to reveal this under any circumstance. The house was not very clean, other than the beds, have to think twice to sit on anything. Basement kitchen has a musky smell. There is no washing machine.

"Good value basic provision"

6.0

The accomodation was very spacious and fine for we three adults. The owners were cooperative about our change in numbers. The house is situated in a quiet street convenient for the town. The kitchen is well equipped.

The so called sea view is miniscule and only from one bedroom window. Parking and unloading are difficult on this narrow street. We had to move our car by 8.0am one morning. The property is spread over four floors with steep stairs open to drops on one side.

The location was good, close to a tesco 300 m far away and there were other restaurants nearby. The neighbourhood was safe and quiet, looked like a standard residential area

First of all, it wasnt easy to find the house, Maps led to another location, and the image of the website wasnt matching the real one. The stuff inside the house were old and fragile, we were pretty scared to broke something by simply using it. The bedsheets clearly had been washed but presented spots here and there. Lastly the parking had not been very easy, the roads around were quite packed and we had to park 700 m away eventually

"A perfect location for our short trip, we just didn’t want to go home!"

8.0

The cottage was very spacious. Our boys were really pleased with the PS and the guitar! All the bedding and towels were clean and fresh. A really authentic comfortable Cornish cottage!

The only thing he was the lack of glasses or beakers to drink from.
