Lovely rural property, had everything you need and a lovely location

Garden wasn’t secure, so our dog got out one day and also the garden was visited by other dogs throughout our stay

"Birdwatchers paradise"

10.0

It was perfect. Beautiful setting, very quiet, lots of birds, a nightingale singing in the woods. There was nature reserve literally next door, with views over the river, woodlarks and Dartford warblers. House was comfy and pleasant. Didn't want to leave.

Can't think of anything. Suffolk sand maybe... gets everywhere, in your shoes, on the windscreen of your car!

"Pretty cottage near Aldburgh"

10.0

This pretty cottage was in a peaceful location accessed by a long dirt road. It was within easy reach of Aldburgh, Saxmundham & Southwold. There is a car park close by that is on the Sailors Path, we had a lovely walk, about 4 miles into Snape Maltings, where there is a lovely pub and coffee shop. The cottage had all necessary amenities and was spotlessly clean. There is a Waitrose & Tesco in Saxmundum, but for essentials there is a Co-op 5 minutes away towards Aldburgh.

When the gate was closed, our dog could still get out of the garden, so couldn't be let out alone.

"Remote hideaway with every comfort"

9.0

Fabulous location in woods with easy access to the Sailors Path Loved heated bathroom floor. Plentiful hot water. Very comfortable living room with beautiful day bed. We loved the selection of books and could have stayed for weeks reading them all. We loved the simple furnishings and kitchen - no flashing digital displays - and we loved the consistency of simplicity throughout the cottage.

Dishwasher made things powdery or rough. Rather dim lighting in the kitchen. The creaking and other footstep noises of the residents above us (living room).

"Beautiful venue for a quiet get-away weekend break"

7.0

Lovely quiet rural location with perfect charm. Very warm and cosy, particularly loved the wood-burning fire (see comments about single log provided). Absolutely idyllic location for a wintery get-away. Despite the fact a storm was blowing outside, the accommodation was quiet, draught free and warm.

We found only a solitary log provided to use with the wood burning stove which was a real shame seeing as we had booked for 2 nights. The preceding week was very chilly so it would have been nice to have had a couple of logs provided so that we could enjoy the ambience of the beautiful accommodation fully. This would have also meant that we could have used the electric wall heaters less which would be cost effective for the host. This wasn’t a complete disaster as we were able to buy a small sack of logs in Aldeburgh at a very reasonable price. The ‘free toiletries’ consisted of a single wrapped ‘coin’ of hand soap. We had prepared by bringing shampoo etc and again this wasn’t an issue for us, but some people might get caught short if they saw that description and were expecting a small shampoo etc.
