Applegrove Country Park, Scarborough

Has great potential just a shame it wasn’t clean in the slightest. Nice big hot tub, lovely area and was nice and cosy.

The cleanliness of the property was very poor. Didn’t seem like it had been cleaned before we arrived at all. For starters there were hair ties and bobbles from the previous guest, dirty cutlery, big cobwebs in places with flies in there, big patches of mould on some of the walls, lots and lots of grime in the windows and shower area and it was generally just dusty and un clean. Also when we arrived it was freezing in the lodge and the radiators weren’t on as they were having to use the hot water for the hot tub, which I guess I understood but we couldn’t check in till 4pm and the hot tub wasn’t ready for us until nearly 7pm. I thought with it being a later check in when we arrived it would have all been ready use and at the very least spotless!!! We left a day early as this was for my daughters 9 birthday but with having 2 young children in this dirty environment we felt it wasn’t clean enough and we left the day before we had to check out. I’ve also tried e-mailing the company to try resolve things and been completely ignored for over two weeks (hence me coming on here).

Nothing to complain about

We stayed here for two nights as a group of three and had a really great experience. The place was clean, well-organised, and everything was in good condition. The hot tub was definitely a highlight — especially with the cold weather, we really enjoyed it. The location was nice and peaceful, and Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. Overall, everything was just as expected and very comfortable. We’d happily stay here again.

Had to pay an additional £30 for parking on the drive adjacent to the property that had a sign indicating it was parking for that accommodation! I don’t feel charging an additional amount is fair when the drive belongs to the accommodation. Advertised as having an oven, it doesn’t. It has a gas hob & microwave/combo grill. So all the oven cookable food we had went to waste. No instructions for the microwave. No wine glasses and only one teaspoon for accommodation sleeping 4.

Bed is super uncomfortable and there was no oven, only a microwave oven grill with no instructions of how to use. Everything else made up for it though :)
