"Very good accommodation; good location for visiting South/West Dartmoor and the Tavistock area."

8.0

The accommodation is spacious and very well appointed and represents good value. The bed is large and very comfortable. Hot water on demand. Good WiFi connection. Torch provided so that you can find your way around outside at night as there is nothing by way of light pollution, which means there is a fabulous view of the night sky when it is clear. Comprehensive and clear directions were provided by Bridget prior to arrival. Good Location - walking access to Blackdown area of the Moor is 1 minute away and from the Trig Point on Gibbet Hill, (15mins up, 10 mins back) there is a panoramic view -Brentor, Kit Hill and beyond to Bodmin Moor to the West, Plymouth Sound to the South, Dartmoor to the East, and the countryside towards North Devon to the North. The nearby Peter Tavy Inn offers good food at reasonable cost.

Outside area could be tidier as it detracts from the high standard of the interior. Not a major issue or criticism but something to consider. Whilst not immediately obvious, it is possible to turn your car around by reversing from the parking area into the gateway which gives access to the moor. Initially, it didn't appear to me that turning my car around in this way would be possible and my first attempt using an alternative approach was tortuous to say the least. Without assistance from Bridget and Andy, this would have taken me even longer. My car is 4.8m in length and 1.85m wide, so with a vehicle over 5m long and 2m wide, turning around could prove challenging. Reversing all the way back to the junction with Brentor Road would be ill advised as the visibility at the junction is not good. To be clear, this would not stop me from booking The Barn in the future.

It was lovely inside and the Bed was large and comfy and the bathroom was amazing with a nice bath and amazing shower. Kitchen was perfect and everything you need. Lounge with doors to outside garden and next to fields with horses and backs on to moors.

"Great for a quiet, cosy self-catering stay."

9.0

Very well and thoughtfully equipped - especially in the kitchen. Comfortable, warm, weatherproof (it was really wet outside) and QUIET. Gate onto the moor.

Um ... only the formerly non-stick frying pan. But even bits of that were OK.
