Swartkop Cottage

Amazing location . Wonderful cottage, just what you would want if you truly are looking for a rustic, unplugged experience. This world is not long for a time where the only sound you can hear is the clicking of crickets and the soft chug of the Tugela river. Beautiful, soul-filling location 10/10 would recommend and visit again

it was just what we were looking for - an off the beaten track l, no wifi, no fuss type of holiday.

We enjoyed being on a working farm. Going on the tractor. Walking and seeing the abundance of wild flowers. The mighty Tugela.

It seems as though there is a poisonous resident snake.

The location is perfect, right on the Tugela, peaceful, quiet and isolated. No signal, no internet! Lots of birds, fresh air. Just perfect

The freezer/fridge is gas powered and although we tried several times, we couldn't light it. That was ok, it was cool and we were only there for a weekend. However, any longer would have been a problem. I'd suggest teaching the lady who comes to clean up how to light the freezer, or make it easier somehow.
