Glen Islay Self Catering Cottage

The amazing staff (thanks Gladness 🙏), the comfy beds, the much-needed fireplace, and thoughtful touches like throw rugs, sherry, popcorn:) The location is superb- we used it as a base for exploring Sani Pass and the Underberg/Himeville area. Would stay again.

Absolutely exceptional. The level of care, from both the owner as well as her assistant, was top notch. During my 4 day stay they regularly checked to see if I needed anything, and kept the fire burning in the fireplace, this made for a very cosy winter stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, with many appliances, including an airfryer. Generally whatever one would need in a home (kitchen or otherwise) is there. Very suitable for a long term stay.

Nothing. One or two niggles happened, but these were attended to promptly.

Hard to think of anything. Maybe the towels could be a little fluffier :)

Michelle was exceptionally friendly and helpful and the cottage was ideally located and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend it to anybody looking at staying in the area. Also the Whistling Goad is a must for breakfast or lunch while you are in the area.

It was entirely our fault that the pick of the keys was a bit tricky! Our Emirates flight was delayed over 24 hours and instead of getting there at 8pm (late arrival planned) we arrived at 11pm the following evening!!! Met Maggie the big guard dog and woke up our hosts!! Once safely in, settled and under the heated duvet all was OK. We woke the following day to a beautiful cottage and wonderful people. Glade we made it and wished we'd had our 3 nights not just 2. Happily could have stayed longer. From fridge contents to comfortable beds, to the relaxed pace, to the interior design...our hosts had it covered and it was delightful.

It was very cold in the Berg when we visited (unexpectantly so, there was snow the week before!) the chalet has a wonderful wood burner but no heating elsewhere (accept the lovely heated duvet!), bathroom was therefore a bit chilly in the mornings and could benefit with some timer electric heaters. The following night our hosts managed the wood burner and we were very toasty warm.
