The cottage was comfortable, clean and a great location for the Forest of Dean. Great base for getting out with the dogs and everything thought of for your convenience. This is a regular trip to the Forest for us and so pleased we found this cottage.

The enclosed garden was fab . The comfort of the sofas was good .the cooker was easy to use

I didn't like the pillows ,one to hard one to soft . Could do with some condiments . No tvs in bedrooms . The lane to the property is narrow and we were in a van .

The host supplied pictures of where the key safe was located. Texted me with the code once the cottage was available.

So close to wonderful walks and we saw some wild boar which I hadn't seen before.

Some more cushions for the sofa and chairs would be good

"Disappointing and a feel of unease"

1.0

Good location

I stayed at Peacock Cottage for three nights with my daughter, grandson, and their dog. The cottage itself was clean, cosy, and in a lovely area, and we appreciated that dogs were allowed. However, several aspects of our stay made us feel uncomfortable and unfortunately affected our holiday. On arrival, we discovered there were Ring doorbells with video/audio recording positioned at both the front and rear of the property. This was quite unsettling, particularly as we had not seen any mention of them in the property listing before booking. The rear Ring doorbell overlooked the garden area, which meant we never felt able to properly relax or enjoy the outdoor space because we were conscious that we could potentially be seen and recorded while spending private family time there. Having recording devices covering both the front and back of the property made the cottage feel much less private than we expected, and this had a significant impact on our comfort during the stay. The cottage had a log burner and logs were provided, but there was no kindling, firelighters, or instructions for how to get it going. As the cottage was quite chilly, I messaged the property owner through Booking.com asking for advice, but I never received a reply during our stay or afterwards. The final issue occurred on our last evening. At around 7:30pm, after returning from a long day out, we were relaxing with the front door open while the dog was in the garden. The dog suddenly began barking, startling us, and my daughter went outside to discover a man at the gate who turned out to be the gardener arriving to cut the grass. We had received absolutely no warning or communication that anybody would be attending the property during our stay. As two women staying at the cottage with a child, this felt extremely unsettling and left us feeling vulnerable and unsafe.

"A lovely cozy stay in a peaceful area."

9.0

It was perfectly equipped for a weekend for four with a dog. The garden was lovely and it was very warm and cozy. The area was a very peaceful area and although we didn’t have much opportunity to explore (we used it as a base for a tennis tournament in Gloucester) there looked to be a lovely pub up the road, some lovely walks and a Tesco very nearby for all your essentials. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the beds were comfortable.

Nothing, it was all great. My husband would have liked to be able to completely turn the heating off during the night but it wasn’t a big problem. The road into the property was quite tight as others had mentioned but we managed to get out GLE 4x4 down there so most people will be fine so not an issue just a warning.
