Blue Crab Cove

Beds were uncomfortable. Definitely older but still very clean.

The location of the house with private beach access was incredible and we wished it was available during our stay. The host and the housekeeper were accommodating with our request for additional toilet paper and dish soap, which were in low supply upon our arrival.

The town was doing beachfront restoration with very loud equipment both nights that we were there. As a result, we had no beach access at all and could not sleep due to the loud noise and lights that occurred 24/7 (I guess no noise ordinance that weekend). The property owner insisted that they had no idea the restoration was occurring.

Location was very nice and private

Tolietries were lacking. Just one roll of toliet paper each of the bathrooms, one a half or a roll the other almost gone. For a 3 night stay I would expect a little better. Also two of the four stove burners weren't working. Meant to leave a note but forgot. Really not something the cleaning staff would check

The keys were hidden on the property so no extra stops to pick them up. Caswell Beach is a lovely quiet oasis. The deck was nice. The breeze the first 4 days was great so easy to stay outside on the deck or on the beach. It is convenient to stores. We had a lovely week at the beach.

Website listing indicated someone would meet us at the property to let us in. When I hadn't heard from the property by Sunday (check in day), I was feeling a bit antsy so I called the property owner number on the website and talked to a very nice helpful friendly lady who told me how to get the keys. She said that instructions were sent that morning via the website...I checked several times but never saw anything...maybe a glitch. The AC seemed fine when we first arrived, but by mid-week it wasn't keeping up with the heat. The bedroom AC vents weren't producing much air flow and the rooms were hot. It was smaller than expected although it worked out since only five of the original eight were able to come. It would have been uncomfortably crowded with 8 adults in the house. There are 4 bedrooms but not enough common area for that many guests. The 2 bathrooms are small with very little storage. No yard. No access at ground level from the front of the house to the back/beach without going upstairs and through the house. I like to sit outside on the deck and watch the water ebb and flow - not visible here. Luckily it didn't rain while we were there as there is also no covered portion of the deck to enjoy it under. None of these issues made me want to leave, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the accommodations for the price.

When I went in, my child, who is 1 yr old, almost got his fingers snapped by a Hugh rat trap that was carelessly left out in the open . Any pet or child could have gotten seriously hurt. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. All but 1 bed was hard as a brick! There was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The house was cold, for the heat did not disperse in the rooms unless the doors were left open. We were not informed that we had to wait til 3 to go in. Cleaner maid was broke down in the driveway when we arrived. Towels was left outside in the dryer.

Had an amazing trip at the Blue Crab! The location was phenomenal and the beaches were beautiful. Will definitely be back!
