Hartcliffe Retreat

Lovely property and excellent location as we were getting married at Cubley Hall a mile away and used the property as a base for us and family. The house is so much bigger on the inside, it really is like a tardis! Amazing views over the countryside, the windows and the lighting are perfect. The zip wire was also a massive hit with the kids we couldn’t get them off it!

It took us a while to get the hot water working in the showers, but everything else was perfect. We would definitely return in future!

Everything ! perfect family home for the weekend. Spacious, kitchen was well equipped and the log burner is a lovely feature for the cold snowy nights !

Nothing, everything was perfect.

Very well resourced cottage with great layout so all family members had a bedroom and well equipped bathroom available to where they were sleeping.Good central dining and living spaces to enable us all to spend time together easily. Lovely to have toys and books provided (and Christmas decorations)Very thoughtful welcome pack and host was very helpful too.

The second oven (which was great to have) just needs the door fixing so meals for big groups can easily be timed to cook in both ovens.

The property is like the tardis it loos small on the outside but is amazing inside with three floors It was very cosy. Large enough to have different family groups kids loved the zip wire

The cooker was a bit tricky to use

Lynne is the best host you can imagine. She truly cares. The place is amazing and includes all you need to live even longterm without any problem.

The barn is beautiful, and has everything you need for your stay. Lynne is a superb host and is a super friendly lady. The welcome pack is a nice touch, the barn is modern and decorated perfectly. We had a super stay and Lynne made our birthday weekend that extra bit special.

Slightly more remote than I expected, it's a good walk to the town.

Everything! The property was spacious and comfortable. The property is set over three floors. There is a bathroom on each and an additional cloakroom on the ground floor. The Retreat can easily sleep nine adults and two babies so is a perfect fit for family holidays. A car is a necessity although we managed to get out without one. We ate out at Cubley Hall which is a twenty five minute walk away. We also ate at Ye Olde Mustard Pot which we walked to although I wouldn’t recommend the walk we took cross country. Both venues served excellent food and had helpful, friendly staff. The views were stupendous. Even when there was bad weather we were able to enjoy watching the hawks, deer and hares . Being visited by the owners horses was pretty fab too. Lovely garden. The welcome package left by Lynne was lovely and she took the towels into hers for washing after a couple of days which is above and beyond when there is a machine in the property. It was great to have a dishwasher too.

Nothing really! The only way it could be improved would be to have some way of opening up the back but the reason that can’t happen was explained to us.

Thoughtful hosts who had eggs,bread and milk in the kitchen.

The mattress was uncomfortable
