Carlton Cottage, Castleton

The cottage was absolutely fantastic. Spotlessly clean, really nicely decorated and the view from the garden was just stunning! We stayed for 3 nights but would happily have stayed much longer. The location is great for days out around the moors and further afield. There were lovely little touches like throws and bowls for the pooch, toiletries and a bottle of fizz for the humans. The Co-op is literally opposite and a pub just a few doors down, worth noting that neither of the pubs in the village are open on Mondays so plan to cook or drive for a meal out. My only suggestion would be for a larger pan as cooking for 4 meant splitting everything in two to fit it in the small pans.

Beautiful little cottage, in a great setting. Yet plenty of space. A brilliant base for exploring the coast and surroundings. Everything that you need is provided. Parking wasn't a problem. Sitting outside admiring the views in the morning 😍 was lovely. Nice touches for the doggy too who loved it. We brought extra throws as our Beagle has no brain.! Would stay there again if they wiĺ have us. A lovely long weekend and fab weather but that's another £1 per night. Thank you so much.

The back and front gardens were very overgrown and it was very difficult to get to the bottom patio, which was a shame. If there had been some secateurs, I would have happily done a little light pruning. There were some lovely shrubs and flowers and creating a path would have taken me 15 minutes. But it didn't spoil our stay. Just a suggestion.

A real fire or woodburning stove would have given the cottage an authentic appeal but I know some insurance companies aren't helpful regarding holiday cottages and real fires.

A hook on the bathroom door and an airer would be the icing on the cake.
