The Schoolhouse Cottages peaceful and quiet retreat with log burner

Absolutely delightful little cottage, the owners met us on arrival and walked us through everything, lots of useful little bits like walking maps of the area that really helped us make the most of the trip.

A fantastic place for a holiday. We loved the cottage and in a quiet rural setting.

That we were not there long enough!

When I arrived the cottage was warm and very inviting, the heating was storage heaters and a fire burning stove, the gentleman set the storage heaters for 3 hours in the morning and the same in the evening after 5.30, I am a designer and when away with the weather I do tend to come back to the property during the day maybe only for an hour or two, but still important to be warm while working, I did use the booster as shown but time wise it just was not able to warm the property quick enough, sorry, on the second evening off my stay I drew all the curtains and got the log burner going, which really warmed the place up nicely, on my last night I did get the log burner going again but I was mindful I had a very early start as I was leaving at 4am, so I let in burn down before I went to bed, safety of course, I got to bed about 10pm , I was woken up about 12,10 absolutely freezing really freezing, I found another duvet in the cupboard and put it on my bed, unfortunately I just could not get warm, the cold had really set in, I eventually got up at 1.50 am tried to run a bath the water was only warm so I just had a very quick one packed my things cleaned the house and left, I have ended up with a stinking cold very unusual for me indeed, you have a beautiful place there but honestly the heating should be left on longer as the evenings are very cold there and it’s not winter yet, just a thought, as for water I did put booster on just didn’t fancy waiting around, omg it was cold I can still feel it now Brrrrr

A property with real character. The sleeping area situated on a split level above the living area with it’s own bathroom. View out to the small garden from a seating area with beautiful windows giving light to the sitting room. The Schoolhouse is located next to natural woodland and fields. It is a very peaceful location.

There are steps at the entrance and inside which I found difficult due to having arthritis. This would not however prevent me from returning there.
