It was fine - nothing wrong at all

fantastic location. views of lake lovely garden and walkable to town. quaint charming.

cobwebs and huge spider! window frames mouldy. Moved an armchair to watch tv and lots of dirt under it. just not really clean. kitchen could do with an update. however it wouldn't stop us booking again. second double bed was apparently uncomfy but ours was fine. had to change pillows as feather allergy but that's just us. however we do run an air b and b and let people know. need a dustpan and brush for patio. the previous people had left broken glass and we couldnt clear it up. would be handy to stop dust coming in house on feet too .

The property was in a lovely location, with great views of lake and little church. Nice little back porch to enjoy the view. The downside was tourbuses and traffic constantly moving past to also enjoy this scenic view. Large comfy bathrooms, charming vintage kitchen. I loved the old cast iron tub with heat lamp in the main bathroom. House even had an old wood burning fireplace which would be incredible on the cold nights. This an older house which was neat because so many accommodations in NZ are extremely modern and sterile. This house was how NZ families lived and holidayed fifty years ago. I usually adore staying in older homes, but the lack of care and maintenance dampened a lot of the charm. It's unfortunate they aren't taking better care of it because it could be an amazing holiday home that lets people experience the way people used to live at the lake in previous generations. Just some fresh paint, new carpet/ flooring and better quality furnishings would make a world of difference. The kitchen and bathrooms have great old wide plank wood flooring, if that's throughout the home they should rip up the awful old carpet. Well they should rip out and get rid of the old, stained carpet regardless. I will give very high ratings to housekeeping, because while the over all house was grotty the beds, linens and bathrooms were very clean and nice. Housekeeping does a top notch job with what they have to work with.

Overall the house was clean, but poorly maintained and the furniture was hideous and mismatched. Peeling wallpaper, cracked paint, stained, grotty carpet, cheap polyester drapes, bare light bulbs and ugly mismatched goodwill furniture from forty years ago. It was furnished like a weekly rate hotel in a bad part of town, not what you expect for a charming lakeside cabin with stunning views. Not much care being taken of the exterior of the home either, dead plant debris and cobwebs abound. It was disappointing because this house has a ton of potential. It could be such a lovely, charming vintage home with more care and investment. New paint or wallpaper, new flooring and even a tiny consideration into the interior decor and furniture would transform the place. If I had to do it again I'd opt for the newer hotels in the area, which is unfortunate because I always prefer renting little local, private homes for holidays when possible. For the rates they are charging they should do much better.

Location not far from good shepherd church.

This is the most terrible experience I have during 12-days holidays in New Zealand. I informed the host that I would arrive late that day through booking app. It showed that the host agreed but there wasn’t any late check-in information provided to me. Then I called the phone number on booking app. Surprisingly, no one answered. I followed the page of “important policy” provided to this house on booking app page. It is said that “Key collection: Book Tekapo Holiday Homes Office, 4 Simpson Lane, Lake Tekapo, 7999”. It is still in booking apps now but IT IS FAKE INFORMATION !!!!!! I I drove round and round trying to find this place. But there was no such place at all!!! This made me so desperate and frustrated, because there was no spare room at Tekapo at all. All my family could have no where to sleep. I had paid 660 NZD and they provide fake information and no service at all! Do not expect you can reach out to the host if anything happens in the house. They just don’t answer the phone. Finally coincidentally we bumped into a nice guy in the town who happened to know the host and reached out to the host to help as get into the house. But this nightmare ruined the night we had in Tekapo. This is a poorly maintained house. You can even see from their booking apps fake information. Do not have any expectation at the inside. All the furnitures and equipments are old. No ventilation in the bathrooms. A window broke and not repaired yet when we lived.

Fantastic location, we can see the church through the house and night time the super stars! Will come again next time.

The location is great! You can see the Church directly through the window.

The facilities are a bit old. We can see dust in the drawers. The pillows in the rooms were not very comfortable. Specifically, there were two pillows in a room with different firmness levels- one is too soft and the other somewhat hard.
