"Farm Heaven"

Exellent location, and if you want a break from a city, wouldn't find any better! Diamond Hill is just right there! Pigs, goats roaming free. Absolutely a devine place to rejuvenate once soul!

A house is a tad ran down, but it's more than sufficient for the price we paid! Absolutely no complains!

"I was trying to support local business - this was very poor standard ."

1.0

Self catering , so we made our own food . Usually we would find a welcome pack on arrival - it was a cool time of year , not even the makings of a fire were left - no heat on . This I felt did not replect Ireland of a thousand welcomes - just very mean and shabby.

The water was not hot and when I asked I was told it comes on automatically we all had to have cool showers . We also were asked to bring our own towels , for the cost felt this was a lot as we had to buy them . Noticed one socket not fitted to the wall properly . One window needed replacement - without heating this made a chill . Beside lamp , bulb gone, might sound petty but it was another lack of attention to detail .

"Idyllic location in close to attractions. However repairs needed and health and safety concerns."

5.0

The property is on the far west of Ireland in Connemara. There is a amazing drive through one of the most beautiful landscapes of Ireland. The property is located in the town of letterfrack, in walking distance to a couple of lovely pubs that serve food and a very well equipped shop. Its literally a few minutes walk or drive to connemara national park. There are many attractions reachable in a 10 to 20 min drive and you could take in many more with a slightly longer drive. The property is spacious, bright and well equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. There was an issue with toilet not filling on arrival. The owner responded quickly with advice on how to fix it and called over when it wouldn't work.

I delayed writing a review for this property despite being prompted to by booking.com emails. It is a difficult time in Ireland to run any hospitality business and I can appreciate the further difficulties attracting guests to more remote places like this. That being said, hospitality businesses have a responsibility to provide a certain level of service to guests. Tourist accommodation needs to be properly maintained and health and safety guidelines must be followed by ensuring that approved electricity and plumbing repairs are carried out. Having read other reviews, it's quite clear that the owners are blatantly ignoring the need for serious upgrades. We expected an idyllic farm stay with some modern comforts and overall a quiet stay away from central Dublin. Unfortunately, it was anything but quiet and overall the property and grounds require TLC, upgrading and there are definite health and safety concerns. The predominant negative issue with this property is the water pump which will quite simply ruin your stay, particularly if you have a group or large family staying. The pump is activated by taps, toilet, shower and so everytime someone uses any of these, it sounds like a construction site within the house (So you wake the house up at night). The pump also leaks and it's clear that there has been a paint over job done where the water is rising up the wall. One of the bedrooms with ensuite upstairs has a leak in the bedroom radiator and bathroom radiator, with an attempt to cover it with a rug. By the overwhelming smell of damp in the room, it is clear that this has been neglected for some time. Sheets, towels, pillows and mattresses are noticeably old and tattered, bleach stains, holes and unmatching bedding. I feel like a trip to IKEA would makeover this house very cheaply. It's quite the drive from Dublin, almost 4 hours, particularly if you intend on stopping for a break. I would love to return if the place was totally revamped!

The cottage is located in a quiet area near a farm with animals. It is very big and well equipped.

The water pump starts every time the faucet is used and it is very noisy. The internet connection was not working reliably.
