Casa Azul - Ocean View

The amazing view and beautiful sunset. The best part of the Casa Azul is certainly the superb view! This house is well equipped with all the basics. Comfortable and silent at night. Watching the sunset is really beautiful ! It is ideal for max 4 people. The sofa-bed is very uncomfortable. We were 5, so my 13 year-old daughter had to sleep on the same bed as my wife and I. Also, this rental is only the lower part of the house. The upper part I guess is only for the owner’s use. Parking requires continue driving up for another 50 meters to turn the car, as the uphill is too steep, impossible to turn in front of the house. The 300 meter drive uphill, after you leave the main road (“regional”j is very - VERY - steep. Not for the faint of heart, nor for beginner drivers. It is doable on a small car, which is what I did, but those 300m are done only on 1st gear and VERY carefully. Oh, and don’t even try to go all the way to the top: it is not allowed for a reason: it is an even steeper climb and only fits 1 car!

The uphill is very steep, driving is really hard. Also, this rental is only the lower part of the house, not too clear from the pictures.

The view is fantastic. The house is nicely decorated and has almost anything you might need. Hosts were friendly, helpful, and responsive.

As already mentioned in several earlier reviews (something I sadly only saw after staying there) - there was an overwhelming mold smell when opening the kitchen cabinets as well as mold stains on all ceilings. The smell was less bad but still present in the whole house. We kept all windows and doors open whenever we could and limited the time we spent indoors, but the smell was always there and really ruined the experience for us. Luckily we only booked a short stay. The smell was so bad, I would have been (more) concerned for my family's health during an extended stay.

Beautiful views of Porto Moniz! Very clean and spacious apartment with a lovely patio for relaxing. Carla was a gracious host and always available!

The road to the property is very steep, which requires experience and a certain vehicle to navigate.

Steep drive and low water pressure

It has a very nice view over Porto Moniz. Privat parking space was good and very helpful. Nice theme of decoration in the apartment, felt very comfortable and cozy.

A lovely decorated ocean themed apartment with open plan living room/kitchen and bedrooms at opposite ends. Large patio/balcony with wide ocean/starry night sky view. Facilities were good - massive double bed.

It took some getting used to but the sheer steepness of the road up was scary in the car - it’s 10 mins walk down to town and about the same back up which was more grounding! Not for someone with vertigo. Nights were hot and the sea breeze didn’t quite cover it but there was a fan.

Large apartment with a huge terrace, with a fantastic view of the city and the ocean. There is absolutely everything you need. The apartment is nicely decorated. I recommend. If you don’t have a car, then a lot of energy goes into climbing from the city to the house and from the house to the hiking trails in the mountains. But it's good for your health!

the surface of the flat is perfect for 4 people, with 2 real bedrooms, a very functional bathroom. The nice view of Porto Moniz from the terrace. The drive to the house is impressive, if you like driving on mountain roads you will be delighted.

The stuffy, musty smell was hard to bear even in the beds. We avoided opening the kitchen cupboards and only kept our clothes in our suitcases as the smell was so strong. The kitchen area was not very clean (cutlery, plates, inside the freezer). The kitchen utensils are minimalist. With the humidity and lack of ventilation, this makes the price of the stay far too high.
