Thatch Cottage, East Boldre nr Beaulieu and Lymington

Property was full of character and very clean and well equipped.

Stairs were very steep and bathroom being downstairs didn’t help.

The thatch cottage is beautiful in a magical location with a great garden. We had a lovely stay with our two children.

Overall, the property fully met with our expectations. The location was excellent and the cottage was set in lovely grounds. The cottage is very old but the bathroom has been fully modernised, along with the kitchen. That meant that the character of the house remained intact but modern facilities were in the 'essential areas'. The lounge was pleasant and rustic. The TV had no live channels and everything was via streaming - but the wi-fi was good and this did not cause us any issues.

Whilst appreciating that the cottage was very old (and probably Grade II), we found the light switches confusing - many did not seem to work, and although overall lighting was adequate, some work needs to be done to remove obsolete switches etc. The master bedroom angled ceiling height made it very difficult to walk down the side of the bed, which made it a bit of a nightly challenge! Also, whilst the free parking was a great asset, the access was restrictive and the overall size of the parking area meant that it was tricky to fit my average car inside the gates. On Road Parking is not recommended due to the width of the road.

Fantastic location - on village edge with a charming shop and a pub doing takeaway or dine in food both within a few mins walk. The decor is very nice, the facilities fantastic with all needs including baby cot and high chair catered for. Lovely secure garden - with lots of seating options and a gorgeous lawn for the baby to crawl in.

Height of the ceilings upstairs was low and the stairs are steep and not the easiest - but its an old thatched cottage and we’d been warned, and it didn’t put us off as the place was lovely overall and we really enjoyed our stay

Great location to get to different parts of the new forest. Sam was very helpful and friendly. The cottage was very clean and lovely garden not over looked.

Bedrooms were very low (which we knew before coming) so it wasn't great for my husband.

Beautiful to stay in - very pretty and lovely surroundings

We liked everything about the property, only thing we noticed was a lot of the glasses were not clean so needed washed before use. We would have appreciated a later check out time or the option to pay extra to stay longer. Coming from Scotland our flight wasn’t until 9:50 at night and we had to be out the property by 10:30. Even 11am would have been better - the morning was rushed and didn’t feel as relaxed as we would have liked.

The cottage had absolutely everything we might have needed and the garden is fantastic.

What a lovely cottage and a fabulous location. Loved the garden and the fact that coffee,tea, sugar etc was all supplied.

Stairs were a little tricky.
