Townside Lodge

We loved this stay. Accommodation is exactly what it looks like in the photos. It's fair to say that it's basic but this is exactly what we booked :) . Right in town down a lovely street that really made you feel you were staying local. The upstairs sleeping area was being worked on when we arrived and wasn't available to us. This cause zero issues for us. Loved the cooler temperatures in the town, no aircon is needed and the extra blankets are appreciated. The host was fantastic, brought us tea as well as some Sri Lankan snacks for us to try. Also the garden is quite lovely.

The lodge is really beautiful especially the garden. A lot of flowers. The lodge really close to the bus station and it’s easy to buy go to anywhere. And the lodge is really big, we have 7 person and can accept more 10 people. The host Dilhan and his mother are very friendly. But the hot water is a little bit problem, because the temperature is very low at night.

We enjoyed the opportunity to stay in a property that was so different than the other stays during our Sri Lanka trip. We enjoyed being surrounded by the beautiful plants in the garden, and sitting outside during mornings and evenings. We had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen (fridge, microwave, stove top, dishes), and lots of space for our family of five to relax. This spacious house had a large upstairs room with three double beds and a single. The stairs to the upstairs was outside, but we didn't get wet on rainy nights going up and down stairs. The downstairs had two bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a living room and a kitchen, so we could spread out and all be comfortable. We had plenty of pillows and blankets for a great night sleep. The hospitality shown by Dilhan and his mother was fantastic. Communication was excellent, and they spoiled us by giving us drinks, treats, and breakfast throughout the stay. Dilhan walked us to town on the first day so that we could see the shortcut that Google Maps didn't know about. We heard church bells and birds in the morning and enjoyed being in a quiet area of Nuwara Eliya.

Staying here is like staying in a cottage, meaning there will be some bugs and it is not as "polished" as a hotel. We didn't mind that, but some might. The openness of the roof led to some critters getting in, but Dilhan is taking care of that.

Very friendly host. Available if you need anything. The location is very good. Beautiful place. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side.

We had an exceptional experience at the recent accommodation in Nuwara Eliya. The host was incredibly helpful and friendly, even arranging sweets for the kids during our stay and providing us with complimentary vegetables upon departure. The spaciousness of the place was impressive, especially the upper floor which comfortably accommodated eight people – perfect for larger families or groups of friends traveling together. The charming garden adorned with lovely flowers added to the overall beauty of the property. The convenience of the location allowed for easy exploration on foot, providing us with a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the scenic surroundings. Without a doubt, I look forward to returning to this delightful place in the future.
