Mercure Poitiers Centre

What a fantastically transformed church, just mind blowing! The gentleman on reception was very welcoming and clearly explained the parking arrangements. Breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from. It's a pity we were only there for one night, we would definitely recommend the hotel and would certainly stay again if ever we were in the area.

Nice hotel and great staff. The location is very convenient for the old center of town. It does mean that parking is a bit of a challenge. The hotel has an arrangement with the garage du theatre so if you see it park right away and save yourself the frustration of trying to figure it out.

Stayed here around December time and the Christmas market was the main attraction. The Hotel is good, very quiet and clean, there are two halves with one being very new and somewhat Austere and the other rather luxurious, of course we ended up in the austere end! However the room was a reasonable size and warm as well as quiet. The Hotel has a great restaurant (with prices to match) and is very well located for the pleasures of Poitiers. Parking was easy enough using the nearby Theatre car park and the Hotel gave a token to reduce the rate for parking to 5 Euros per 24 Hours. Excellent reception staff who started speaking to me in English before I even opened my mouth, neat trick based on them knowing who was yet to check in! I would highly recommend this Hotel for a long weekend break.

The Saturday market is absolutely splendid! I am not kidding.

I only stayed for one night but had a wonderful stay. The building is stunning and the premium bedding is amazing. Perfectly located minutes from the train station and in the city center, I'd definitely recommend staying in Mercure Poitiers.

Lovely stop off!

What a lovely piece of architecture and (at the same time) cozy hotel. The soaring arches of the 19th century Jesuit Church of the Gesú have been mercifully preserved and incorporated into this comfy, modern hotel. The restaurant approaches perfection. The location is within a few blocks of the 12th century cathedral and 2nd century Roman baptistry. A GEM of a hotel.

The hotel is beautiful. They have done a great work converting an old church into a hotel. The restaurant is very good and the atmosphere pleasant despite the exaggerated pomposity of the service. The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom would do better with more counter space for toiletries. We were surprised to find out that the body lotion was left in certain rooms only - "the privileged rooms". They did provide us with some after I asked, but this should not happen in a 4-star hotel. Also, staff at desk were not particularly friendly, except a young man whose name I wish I could remember. They seemed too busy looking at the computer to even acknowledge guests. They would answer questions and provide the service requested, but they acted as if they were doing a favor. Again, this should not happen at this kind of hotel. Staff at reception should be friendly and welcoming. The most important, however, is that the hotel is beautiful, clean, and very well located.
