Amazing Cabin - Close To Ski Resort and Village

Great location! Very close to the village less than 10 minutes. Plus the views were honestly breathtaking.

Cons. The cleanliness of the cabin. The shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom smelled like urine and looked dirty. And some of the dishes still looked like they had grease on them. Also when we tried to shower later at night we couldn’t due to the water being extremely cold and wouldn’t change to hot and even leading into the early morning still the same outcome.

The location was good, and the cabin was nice but what made it special in reality had nothing to do with the cabin.. what made it special was that it snowed.

The parking is not ideal, very uncomfortable U-shaped inclined area to park-- not appropriate for parking in general and worse for bigger cars and snow. The stairs inside the cabin had a runner that seems to have lost its staples many visitors before and it made it very dangerous to go up and down stairs, for anyone, and even more with a toddler (or for those people with seniors). The stairs outside feel unstable too, like they can use more reinforcement. The warm water stopped working in the middle of the shower. Garbage has to be taken out with you when you check out, to a specific location. For the money being paid, this should be taken care of by the host. There are 2 locked doors inside the cabin, which gives a creepy vibe, and there is another (seems like storage) area underneath the cabin.

I think the greatest selling point of this location is the price and the location. Location was just what we were looking for since we had family staying nearby on Colusa Drive and we wanted to be close to the lifts. The parking access was nice but the stairs up to the door felt rickety, especially with my elderly grandma and baby. I thought the layout was pretty straightforward and had an economical use of space. The 4 seat dining table was cute, the kitchen was basic but I appreciated the fully stocked K-cups, and the living room with fireplace was cozy. Upstairs the master and kids room are pretty much the same size except the master has a full closet while the kids room has some tiny shelves that are hard to reach behind the door. There’s a queen bed and a twin bunk bed with a small desk next to it which was a good use of the space, but it is slightly cramped.

Here are my complaints. One, the staircase from the first floor up to the bedrooms has a runner on it that’s stapled in and comes off very easily. Very hazardous and dangerous. Not to mention that each step is very small compared to what I’m used to in the city, not sure what the code is in Big Bear but you have to sort of walk like a penguin to make it down the stairs. Next it’s the outlets. There was one working outlet with an extension cord and one broken outlet in the secondary bedroom. I’m not sure why they don’t get that second outlet closest to the queen bed fixed. It’s hanging off the wall and is very dangerous as well. The two bathrooms provide the bare minimum. The towels smell musty and are not soft and the towel rack was broken upstairs. I sent a message about it to management with a request for repair so I could have somewhere to hang my towels and I got zero response.

Very close to everything we wanted to explore. Very helpful staff always within a text away.

It was perfect for our needs.

I liked the coziness and how close it was to the Village. Very private.

Stairs were steep and some seemed loose so needed to be extra careful going up and down especially the inside stairs to the bedrooms.
