Paddahoek Cottage

We stayed at Paddahoek for a week and absolutely loved every minute of it. The accommodation was beautiful, peaceful, and incredibly comfortable. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully prepared for our stay. The surroundings in Vermaaklikheid are stunning and the atmosphere was so relaxing — the perfect place to unwind and escape from busy city life. We especially enjoyed the quietness, nature, and the overall charm of the property. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We honestly did not want to leave and will definitely be back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway!

Silence and no distractions in a village that has only one shop ( not always open). Similary for the only restuarant.

The biting flies. I don't know if these are seasonal or related to proximity of the river. Peaceful sleep seems to work. Fortunately not active after dark. Unfortunately also no access to the beach at Puntjie.

I love the seclusion and that it was pet friendly. We enjoyed along outside and using the outside braai

I would have liked a shower inside the house

A perfect hide away. Just pure magic. Stunning location. Great for the dogs. Completely fenced. Private. Stunning details. Everything you need. The outside shower is amazing. Just all and all a incredible stay.

I did not like the fact that I had to leave this space eventually....

Vermaaklikheid is a remote and hidden gem. Paddahoek cottage is private, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. We were warmly received by Hester for the keys and a cosy fire in the fireplace prepared in advance. We enjoyed the stoep and braai area, complete with an old Dover stove. It was cold and rainy, but the cottage’s design allows for a lovely stay, winter or summer. Thank you, Jonathan!

We loved everything about our little cottage: rustic but with every convenience. The inside cast iron fireplace was great and warmed the whole cottage. Remember to stock up on firelighters for middle of the night fire stoking! The bedding kept us so snug and warm that we found it difficult to get out of bed in the morning :) The frogs in the reeds serenading us were the only sounds. Perfect peace.

Be aware that the overflow on the bath is not connected to a pipe.
