The Oaks - Ash Farm Cotswolds

Well located on a proper working farm. Close to Stow, but far enough away to feel like real countryside.

The stairs to the upper sleeping area are a bit tight - OK for youngsters, but not suitable for Grandma!

The location was brilliant. Very easy to find from directions given. The barn was clean with lovely fresh bedding, towels and blankets. Lots of toilet roll provided, hand soap, bleach, dishwasher tablets, washing up cloths, tea towels, crockery, tea coffee and sugar. Very handy having a bottle of milk left for us in the fridge, cooking oil and a pack of biscuits. We met the owner and his lovely dogs. He was very friendly and checked that everything was ok for us. The welcome notes were very helpful as were the leaflets left for ideas of what we could do during our stay. We had a lovely stay.

We feel that the barn needs a little love and care to bring it up to scratch. The blinds were broken and didn’t shut properly. Fridge door compartment was broken so couldn’t keep everything standing up milk etc. The arm chair was very old and you sunk into it not comfortable at all. Could do with some more homely touches such as cushions on sofas etc. The fans in the attic worked but were so old and noisy that we couldn’t use them especially at night when we needed them. I think the idea of providing the option of a breakfast and homemade bread is brilliant but didn’t use this as feel it was very overpriced. Part of the floor in the attic was raised and wobbly. My daughter tripped on this and luckily didn’t hurt herself. One of the head boards on one of the single beds was broken and very wobbly. The toilet needs looking at as the flush button kept getting stuck and water was constantly running until we managed to free it. Maybe a few games to play would also be a lovely touch.

The location is absolutely exceptional out of this world for peace and quiet.
