Marina de São Mateus

The small apartment was clean and comfortable and conveniently located to the various attractions on the island with easy parking. There was also a washing machine and the host provided recommendations for dining around the island.

The plug-in air fresheners were overwhelming. The apartment also gets very humid even with the AC on.

Very updated, appointed, clean, comfortable, roomy, and a great view of the fishing harbor. We had trouble figuring out how to work the stove top and contacted Mara. She was 2 minutes away and came over with her mother to show us how to use it. They were delightful hosts and also sent us many recommendations for eating and sightseeing. We would love to come back again and stay longer.

Staying at Marina de São Mateus was like peeking into the lives of real Azorans; the apartment is located at a working fish harbor with boats coming in & out all the time. I had everything needed for a comfortable & peaceful place to stay while exploring the island. A short walk to a super market, an ATM & a pharmacy... though the nearby Mini Mercado Sousa was more fun to explore & had quite a variety of necessary household goods. On a practical note, having a washer/dryer was very convenient & the Wi-Fi was excellent. The park along the harbor is a nice place to walk or sit & watch the boats; there is also an exercise / children's playground available on the far side. Mara was an excellent host with many good recommendations for places to explore. Locally can wholeheartedly recommend Baia W for a fresh, friendly meal; the squib was tender & savory. Only a few minutes drive to downtown Angra to see the architecture & tourist shopping, or drive the other way to see the cheese factory, Queijo Vaquinha & have samples, a drink & or a sandwich with a pleasant atmosphere & blue water view.

I wish my language skills were better to chat with the locals, they seemed friendly.

The apartment is located in a beautiful marine with great views. The parking is nearby, multiple restaurants and a supermarket are just a few steps away.

This apartment is located in the south of the Island. Good location. It is an easy equipment accomodation. Easy to reach, clean and Mara is a good host. The washing and drying machine was very usuful.

Too noisy because of the three pubs and two restaurant next to the apartment. In the evening it is hard to find parking place and there are some strange (drunked) person on the street.

The location is noisy and the government should put a law for the locals not to be so messy with the beer bottles and have a respect for their village and cut down the noise with the mother bikes
