Marina de São Mateus

The location is very good. There is an excellent restaurant next door.

Despite appearing clean, the house had an unbearable musty smell. I only stayed one night in this house because, in addition to the unpleasant smell, my family's respiratory tracts became irritated. I even considered sleeping in the car in the middle of the night. The house was not in suitable condition to accommodate guests. I left in the morning and lost the remaining days that were already paid for. The owner did not seem concerned about what happened.

The accommodation was very tidy and well equipped with everything you need to make yourself comfortable. The stay was well organized and the extra information provided at the property in regards to local restaurants, festivals things to do etc. added a nice touch to the stay. The location is very accessible with free parking close by and its well situated. There is a grocery store right down the street and two restaurants within 30m of the place, which makes finding a place to eat very easy. Definitely a great place to stay.

The apartment had everything we needed, was clean and the bed was comfortable. The host was very helping a communicative.

There were a few bars in the area with lots of people hanging there at night, at first we were a bit skeptical about them, but there were no problems.

We LOVED this apartment. It was quiet, spotlessly clean, great shower--wonderful water pressure, heating and cooling we could adjust, great internet, overlooked the marina, free parking was right outside the door. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans for cooking along with an almost full-sized fridge. It had its own heating and cooling as well as a stand-alone tall fan. We appreciated having 2 bedrooms. Although we never met the host in person, they were always reachable and helpful with the few questions we did have. The local grocery store is barely a block away (see photo). There are little coffee/pastry shops along the streets surrounding the marina, and we counted at least 3 little pubs right beside the apartment. One of the best restaurants in the area is literally just a few steps outside the front door, also overlooking the marina AND it offered a vegetarian meal! (see photos). It's about a 30 minute drive to/from the airport. Terceira is beautiful and lush, relaxing and filled with volcanic history. If you go you absolutely must book a cave tour which includes the thermal vents, inside the lava tube and inside the volcano. It's amazing!

I wish we could have stayed longer!

The view from the appartment and the location. Refeições Lima had very good food and cheap. And I loved the sports bar around the corner which is open everyday until 2am. Very cool to sit with locals. Also a plus point was that the kitchen was nice equipped with spices and herbs like chili salt and oil.

Sometimes it was a bit cold and humid! This is in many places a problem.

Exellent hosts ,,very helpfull and nice, super location in the port of Sao Mateus,apartment with everything you need. Big recomendation!
