Eagle Lodge

Would not recommend this lodge. Received conflicting information of getting into the lodge tried to contact owner still waiting for a reply. It is the first property where we have not been left any welcome pack even just a packet of biscuits. It certainly wasn't the cleanest with build up of hair and dust in the corners. No one came to clean the hot tub once The booking was for 5 persons and we only had 3 large dinner plates and exactly 5 forks. The light fittings in one bedroom and the living room, had bulbs which weren't even working. Therefore very dim lighting. Will not be returning

The lodge is getting a little tired so probably could do with a little refurb here and there, in particular the back area.

I think having an air fryer would have made a huge difference however that may just be us and us struggling to use the oven.

The lodge itself is in a really quiet location, its dog friendly which was perfect for us however it isn’t fully suitable for for dogs due to them being able to get through the gaps in the fence and under the gate. The lodge decor is rustic and has a very lovely cabin feel to it. The large leather sofas however didn’t fit the cabin and felt very out of place and were broken (the arms fall off) . The fire in the living room didn’t work and the actual cabin was freezing cold when we arrived - we eventually figured out the heating. The hot tub was freezing cold on arrival, after messaging the host he said it shouldn’t be and there may be an issue. It needed a new heat pump which was eventually resolved at 6pm the following day despite raising the issue at 8pm the previous day - shouldn’t this have been checked before arrival? The outside lights didn’t work. Someone on air bnb had raised this back in October 2024 and it seems the host hasn’t done anything about it - very lazy. The light in the en-suite also flickered badly and this was also mentioned in a review back in October 2024?? Sort it out!!!! Next issue, nothing was clean in the kitchen and there was nothing to clean things with? No clean sponges, very little washing up liquid. There was absolutely no soap in the whole place not even in the bathrooms. To top it all off we had bought all the ingredients to make a lasagne , however we reported the oven not working on the Friday morning and the response was ignored by the host. The oven was broken. We weren’t able to cook our lasagne and relied on takeaway with not much compensation from the host or a genuine apology. It seems there is a lot wrong with the cabin and the host isn’t willing to sort it and ignores a lot of reviews. We wouldn’t recommend it based on the facilities being very poor, unreliable and broken. The stay was stressful with a broken hot tub, no oven and poor facilities.

What a beautiful property, It was very unique and gorgeous decor. It had everything we needed, including towels. Very comfortable rooms and even added extra of a sofa bed. Beautiful location and views. The communication with the owner was very quick. Would definitely stay here again in future ❤️ was very handy having 2 bathrooms and having both a bath in one and a shower in the other was really handy. Rooms were decent sizes, and was pleased there was room for our travel cot in the double bedroom.

French door lock was broken so unlocked for the duration of our visit. Informed owner as he’s hadn’t been made aware.
