Quinta da Pavoa - Cottage House

Beautiful house, beautiful view of countryside and ocean, beautiful gardens, and wonderful hosts. We loved the cats and the sweetest dog who live outside while you are there. We also enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening and watching the bats fly around over a neighboring field. The host gave us eggs from their chickens who live there too.

If you don't love cats (or a rooster's early morning greeting), this might not be the place for you :)

Maria's cottage was absolutely lovely. When we drove up, the cats were there to greet us before we could even pull through the gate (even despite the light rain that was falling). The yard was beautifully taken care of with its manicured lawn and an abundance of gorgeous flowers. It was so enjoyable to sit on the front porch with the view both afar and in our immediate surroundings. Maria graciously supplied us with fresh eggs from her chickens during our stay which my teenage boys appreciated very much. We're so glad we chose to start our Azores travels off at this cottage. We dearly miss all the kitties... each had their own sweet personality and they added so much enjoyment for us. And little Jack was fun to have waiting to greet us on the porch each morning.

Properly was clean and comfortable. We loved having the household cats and dog around. The location was great, central to most attractions

There really isn’t much to say, it was great

The view from the deck is unbeatable with green hills and the ocean: the garden is lush and full of beautiful flowers. The dog and cats are wonderful company (friendly but not intrusive, our daughter loved playing with them). The house is comfortable and has everything we needed. Bathroom is spacious. Maria even put in a single bed in one of the bedrooms for our daughter, so we didn’t have to squeeze.

Our host was amazing and reallly added to the experience. She showed us everything and made us feel super welcome. She even gave us eggs from the chickens in the garden which were the best ever.

Beautiful setting, lovely and comfortable cottage, stunning views. Super responsive owner. The only cautions are: 1) if you don’t like cats, this isn’t your place 2) super steep driveway that is tough on your clutch. If you are driving a manual, consider parking down below.

Maria our host was extremely welcoming and helpful. It's elevated position has spectacular views of the mountains, sea and Islet. 5 min drive to 2 great uncrowded beaches. Really spacious and airy and good air con. At night, great stargazing. Lovely cats and Jack the dog to look after, which we weren't quite expecting, but they weren't a problem as we knew there were going to be cats around, but they were amusing and calming. The kids miss them. We also had eggs from the chickens and fruit from the garden that we could help ourselves to. The house was cleaned and bedding and towels changed twice mid stay, the cottage had everything you needed for relaxing and days at the beach. You definitely need a small car to navigate the narrow road leading up to the cottage and around the wonderful island. Perfectly located to Pingo Doce and Vila Franco do Campo. Couldn't fault it.

The kids say this was the best place they have ever stayed (even over Disney World). The cats, and Jack the dog sealed the deal! The owners were gracious hosts, ready to help with any questions and the farm treats were a very nice touch. We are already working on the timing for our next visit, and staying here is a must.

This is a "real" house (as opposed to the usual ikea-like, and only-for-rent, holiday houses) with all the elements you may need: many towels, washing machine, dish washer,... It is located near a main road, but the real and nice fact is that we could bearly hear it from the premises. In the middle of our stay (all together, 5 nights) we had a surprise that we really appreciated: a nice and very gentle lady came to do the cleaning of the house, that included changing bed linen, towels, kitchen cloths,...

Windows could be cleaner.
