Quinta da Pavoa - Cottage House

Lovely wooden house with big garden and covered terrace. Ideal, if you like cats very much. We do :-) There are four of them all the time, often 3 or 4 guest cats as well. Sometimes there come around some chicken, too. The garden is full of fruit trees. A welcome fruit basket was provided when we arrived. Kitchen is well equipped, so we were able to prepare the fresh fish we bought at the next Pingo doce supermarket. Absolutely quiet. Very recommended.

Quinta da Pavoa has family vacation written all over it. Surrounded by idillic scenery, cats, dogs, chicken (and fresh eggs), little orchard with tomatoes, green beans and all sorts of herbs (depending on season of course). The cottage is beautiful, comfortable with all the amenities you need and none you don’t need. Impeccably clean, I am allergic to cats and was worried about the furry friends but did not sneeze once (although it was a bit of work to keep Luna out of the house has she is the more cuddly of the cats and always tries to sneak in). What sets the whole thing apart is Maria who looks after us with 5 star quality: the house was supplied with all the basics for seasoning and cleaning (dishwasher and washing machine detergents), coffee, towels for the “beach”/poças, sun umbrella, … when I asked if she had walking sticks 2 appeared magically, we cook a lot and when asked if there was another pan Maria arrived 20 mins later with an extra (new) one. We did not make it to the Ilhéu de Vila Franca because of weather conditions so I guess we will have to go back

This is a very hard pick… perhaps the vegetable peeler: I could not get round to use it so had to go for a knife instead
